Word Slinger - 10/22/07 05:43 PM

My free downloaded game from Real Arcade does not show new hints gained when words are placed on the board. I am struggling at level 41 and read where some got to level 60. Anyone else have the same problem? i.e. hints do not register. I think I could advance if this worked.

Sorry b4 but I haven't played this game. We may have to wait until someone familiar with it is able to help you out.

B4, I googled to see if I could find any help with this, but so far, no joy. Have you tried emailing the company?

Edit: I found a troubleshoot page at RealArcade. You can read it here. They suggest going to their forum

Thank you so much for your help. I am afraid I am stuck but might try redownloading the game. I recommend it highly but you can spend alot of time trying to progress. Someone is at level 90- quite amazing! Gameboomers is so wonderful at helping us all and thanks to the moderators and MAG for making it all possible.

Re: Word Slinger - 10/22/07 08:36 PM

I play the game, (have had it for over a year now) but have always gotten sick of it long before reaching that level. I think I was up in the 50's.

Is it possible that when you get to the difficult levels the hint feature is removed to make it more difficult?

I haven't played it in ages, maybe I'll play it for a while. I forgot I had it.

Thanks NYLady.

MaG is very generous to give us this "home" and to work so hard keeping it a fun and safe place wave

MaG does a great job as do all you moderators. You guys are what keeps the threads rollin'.

b42241: sorry I can't help. I get tired of the game after about 20 rounds and quit. It will take me forever to get to where you are to see your problem. I was up in the 50's but my computer crashed a few months ago and I had to re-download all my games and they all start back at the beginning. I'm so thankful that Big Fish keeps such good records, redownloading was a snap.

Re: Word Slinger - 01/14/17 11:09 PM

Hi,
First I am sorry for bringing an Old game to the top of recent topics, but I am interested in buying a downloadable version of Word Slinger and I checked with BF and they seem to no longer sell the game. I tried Shocwave.com but when I tried to buy it, No success, it even went to Paypal process and still nothing.

Does anyone know of a Reputable site where I can purchase this game?

On another game subject, I noticed that Steam has an Updated version of Scrabble called: SCRABBLE: The Classic Word Game - Official 2016 Edition,
and since I do not have a Steam account, has anyone here tried this game? and if so, is it decent, dosen't have to be a 5 star rating, but at least 3 Star rating would be fine.

Thank you
Ray

It looks like there are places to get Word Slinger for free like GameHouse and Cnet. I don't like either website but others use them.

Re: Word Slinger - 01/15/17 04:09 AM

Thanks for your quick response BrownEyedTigre, and about Cnet, I do not trust that site either, once upon a time they were great...

And as for Gamehouse, the only way to get to play the Full game unless I mis-read is that you have to become a Member and at $9.99 US a month which comes to about $13.00 a month Canadian, it is a bit too steep for me, granted you can play all the games on their site but I have played most of them already.

Again thanks and take care.

Re: Word Slinger - 01/19/17 02:56 AM

Thank you BrownEyedTiger and Marian for your help, I was able to finally buy the game via Shockwave for $6.99 US. I had a few hurdles to go through to get it, I had to join Shockwave first (No membership fee required though) and then Buy it when I was logged in, after that, All went smoothly.

No if I can only get a Decent Scrabble game for the computer I will be a happy camper.

Scrabble has 2 good versions on Steam. Starcom!

Re: Word Slinger - 01/19/17 05:15 AM

Ok thanks BrownEyedTigre,

I took a look at the 2 games, looks good.
I have read a lot about Steam, I take it One has to become a Member before buying games? Is there a monthly charge? Can one try the game before buying like BF?

I tried doing some reading on the Steam website but there is so much to read that my eyes started to go wonky..

I am just curious because my wife now has a new laptop with Windows 10 and was wondering if the older version would work on hers, the description reads that it is good up to Win 7.
The newer version says it will work on 10.

I am just afraid of the newer version might too much animation for my wife.

Re: Word Slinger - 01/19/17 10:43 AM

Well after a short nap, I went back to Steam and downloaded the game manager, then I clicked to log in as a new user and then entered a user name and password, then my email address, after doing all that it told me I already logged in at that email address, my heart skipped a few beats, did somebody steal my email address?
After fiddling around and contacting support, they gave me the name I originally logged into, still not believing that I did, I went through the motions and when I finally Logged into Steam, holy cow, in my Library I saw a game I purchased WAY Back in 2008 and then I realized that I indeed did buy this from Steam, although Steam was much smaller then and I am sure that I did not need to download a Game Manager (could be wrong though, good old memory is going going...)

So I still did not buy the game, it says it will send it to the game manager, so I do not know if I can copy it for my wife or will I have to set up a Game Manager for her and then Gift the game to her..... More later...

Again, thanks to BrownEyedTiger and Marian for all your help.

Starcom, you and your wife can both download the Steam client and share the games. She will just have to login with your login and password. Enjoy the game!

Re: Word Slinger - 01/20/17 12:09 AM

Ok thanks BrownEyedTiger, really good to know, I shall work on my wife's laptop to set up the client.

I really appreciate your feedback and follow up, knowing that you are a very busy person and yet you can still take the time to help us out.

Have a good day

Re: Word Slinger - 01/20/17 12:28 AM

I hope your wife can play the one the one you have Ray!

The only thing you need to remember is you both cannot be playing Steam games at the same time. One of you can only be logged in at a time. Can't really blame them for doing or one person could be sharing with everyone in the world with one account. laugh

Thank you BrownEyedTiger and Marian for the info. NO Problem of playing these games at the same time, the Scrabble game(s) will be for my wife since she is the Brains of the family.

Me intelligent, nah!! I thought I was smarter then her, so she challenged me to a good old fashioned Scrabble board game, best out of 5, If she won I would have to marry her and if I won.... Well the rest is History. lol
