Quote:
Construct entire residential districts for people and improve their well-being by building markets, schools, theaters and other places, and connect them with roads for ease of access. Create warehouses and farms, plant wheat and bake bread, mine clay and manufacture all kinds of crockery. Once you have your manufacturing in place and running, provide your population with food, improving the status of households. Sell the excess of products and make more money. The richer households become with time, the more taxes they pay, thus helping you improve the city. Once you have successfully completed all the missions, you will be able to build your own villa!

Starts off great, a little different than the first one. However, when you get to the higher levels, 14/15 and beyond, frustration, frustration and just downright helplessness.

Each level in that realm could take about 3 or 4 hours to complete. Takes patience and a quick trigger finger.

If you venture into this game let me know how you are making out, I'd be interesting in knowing your level of frustration smile.

Good info, Flo - thanks! The later levels definitely sound challenging (and frustrating!). grin

I'm up tp level 23 and loving it. I generally start making weapons to sell before I build houses. I also build barracks right away. After I amass some money I then slowly start building the houses and what they need. I also try to give Rome what they need before my houses need whatever it is they want. It's a nice long game. wave

Good tips Connie. I just finished level 22 and as frustrating as it was to get there, I'm getting the hang of it now. I will be sorry it's over.
However, I still think they are way too heavy on the fires. Could have done with less of them.

I totaly agree on the fires, Flo NS. I'm also going to be sorry when it's done. I still have a few chapters to go. wave

Did you know that you did not have to be connected to the main road to build anything. You just creat your own roads making sure there is fire protection and warehouses. I am assuming the traders would have to be but it seems nothing else does. I'm just starting level 25 and only learning that now after seeing the trailer on You Tube.

I'm not sure about the houses, haven't tried them yet.

I always wondered why there was so much property and that's why, you can build wherever you want, houses also.

The hardest part of these levels now is the number of soldiers you need. Patience will be needed or maybe, it's best to do the soldier thing first and get it over with.

Re: Ancient Rome 2 - New Time Management Game on BigFish - 01/22/13 02:53 AM

I made it through, all done. Going to play again.

Tip: If you want to play again but dread the fires. I took all of the production elements and created small lots, 4 products, 2 firehalls, and 2 warehouses, you'll need the warehouses later anyway, you have to have at least one. Build your roads around and through the buildings. The small lots will be fully maintained without your help. There may be a slip or two, but nothing like when everything is together and the brigands can run rampant. This keeps them in a smaller space and can be handled by firemen. All you need is one green space between lots.

It doesn't always work with the houses, I usually build no more than 10 but you still need to watch them when the brigands are around, 5 is best depending on room and money to build the city.

An update has been released for this game:

Quote:
Good news! There's now an update available for the PC version of Ancient Rome 2!

This new version:

1. Reduces the number of fires and adds hints
2. Automatically saves levels
3. Adds a Sandbox free play level (available next to the 'villa' button after six tutorial levels)
4) Fixes text and font sizes in certain parts of the game

The update is available in the Game Manager or by uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Those are some good updates, but I'm almost finished the 2nd round. I'll install when finished.

What's a Sandbox free level?

Flo, I haven't played this game yet, but what a Sandbox level usually means is that it is an area of the game in which there are no set objectives that you must accomplish but rather that you can do pretty much what you would like. wave
