Around the World in 80 Days

Do any of you match 3 players have any tips for me? I'm on (or was) level 48 (or 49).
This screen has the pieces to be removed lined up in a single column over an unbreakable barrier. This level defeats me and I end up having to go back to the beginning level in China. I can't figure out a working method to get all the pieces moved away from that barrier. I can manage 1 or 2 then I lose a life. I always run out of time.

So, I'm hoping there is some trick to doing this that you can share with me.

Thanks Marian. I have been trying to do what they say, 1 color on one side and 2 of the same color on the other. I have found it incredibly hard to do. But now I know I should be using the hammer to drop down the right color. So I'll give that a try and let you know how it goes.
