Jewel Quest 2 Tournaments

Does anyone play the tournaments?

I briefly hit the rating of 2300 and it has been up and down since then.

Every time I get over 2200 now, I tend to just lose games going under 2000 and then having to work my way back up.

Do the games get harder after 2200?
Is there a trick to them that I just have not noticed?
Or a pattern?
Anyone have any tips?

I did a search online about this and found some general tips about strategies to win the tournament games, but I found no real insights that would provide answers to your questions. Maybe someone else will know.
