Does "Casual Games" include apps for i devices? - 11/11/13 06:15 PM

As anyone knows who owns one, there are literally hundreds of game apps for iPads and other handheld devices. I'd like to download a couple of casual games, for whiling away the commute, but where to start?

So far, reviews and lists of ratings I have seen tend to be arcade-heavy or tout the various matching games (eg., Candy Crush) or the time-management stuff (eg., Farmville), none of which interest me. Most IHOG games probably would be difficult to play on an iPad or iPad Mini or phone because the limited screen real estate, but I'll bet there are other games that would do well.

I did find "The Room," and it is a pretty cool brain tweaker. I also found and enjoy "Color Cross," which is sort of a graphic crossword. I'd like to find other good mental exercise games or puzzles. Any suggestions where to start looking?

All of the IHOG's that were ported to Iphone/Ipad have zoom features which make them easy to play.

There are excellent choices on BigFish here. You do not have to purchase without trying first just like their regular selection. I gave the MCF games to my daughter's inlaws to play on their trip to Italy and they loved them.

Thanks, I checked them out. Only two were "puzzle" games, and all but a few of the rest were HOGs. They were designed for standard computer setups, so they often include a zoom-in feature to allow them to function on smaller devices.

I have played some of those very HOGs on my standard computer and had difficulty finding some of the objects. Even with a "zoom in" feature, I doubt I could manage playing them on an iPad or iPad Mini. LOL Guess I'll stick with games written for smaller devices in the first place.

Sir Dave over at JA+ made a ***list*** of puzzly casuals for iPod/iPad.
However many of them do have object-finding.

One of the best puzzle games is The Room.
It features a puzzle box with all sorts of puzzles built into its nooks and crannies.

Also check out The Lost City (beware games with similar name)

You can also get 7th Guest for iPad, which has puzzles.
Unfortunately they removed a couple of puzzles, including the Microscope puzzle.
But you can install the Microscope puzzle separately.

Thanks, Jenny! I'll check out JA. I did download "The Room," and am enjoying it. Quite pesky. happydance

I have not heard of "The Lost City," but will take a peek there, too. I tried one of the Time Management games at BF, and nearly finished all the levels in the one-hour trial period, so I don't think those are going to work for me.
