Surface: Pantheon, Chapter 6 "Marbles Puzzle" - 03/31/14 02:37 AM

There are 10 marbles and I'm supposed to "join" pairs of the marbles inside highlighted circles. There are five highlighted circles. I'm not clear on the intent here. Am I supposed to use ALL the circles, or can I join the marble pairs just in the circles that are most convenient? It seems pretty daunting to try to join exactly five pairs in exactly the five circles.

Sorry if this sounds vague. It is vague to me, too. LOL Like I said, I don't get the intent. I can't even tell if I have a limited number of moves or not. It keeps resetting on me. (Yes, I could easily look up the WT, but the fun for me lies in solving these puzzles, not having the answer given to me. happydance )

This is a darned good game, by the way, although it is pretty dark in mood. My third "Surface" game and I have enjoyed them all.

I wrote the guide and it took me a minute to refresh my memory. You have to find the balls that when combined together end up in a circle. THat's as vague as I can be without spoiling it. Does that help?

If you still need a nudge here is hint two:
Click to reveal..
You have more balls than double the circles so a certain order must be determined to eliminate some balls.

Thanks. I will go back and see if that means using all the available circles. It is a great puzzle. Some of them in this game were far too easy.

Yes, all the circles need to have a ball in it.

OK, got that one. That was great fun once I understood the intent and the necessary final configuration.

Now, I have moved on to another puzzle whose intent is not clear to me, either. I am in the Masters' Hall up on the floating station, again faced with some rotating circles and balls. This time, I have to move a small Earth horizontally across to a Red Planet, keeping the Earth surrounded by "protective" red icons. The instructions are no more helpful than that.

It is easy to rotate everything so that the Earth will move all the way across to the last space before entering the Red Planet, but no further. Since I don't understand their concept of protection, even when I have succeeded to this degree, I cannot get the Earth to go the last space. Whatever my next move, it resets the puzzle entirely.

I am not home right now but I will look at it and see if I can remember it.

If I am not mistaken you have to surround the earth and red planet with hearts to get them together. YOu have likely figured that out in order to move the earth, but the final step requires the red planet to be surrounded with hearts too.

Yep, that is where I am all right. It is in trying to shift a few hearts to surround the red planet that the game resets. This is because I don't really understand what constitutes "protection" for the Earth. confused

You cannot hit a red thing, you have to remain surrounded by hearts. I have the solution in the WT if you need it.
