lost toad Chronicles of Mystery Secrets of the Lost Kingdom

So far I have collected all the ingredients for the caldron, snake egg,plant etc, except for the toad. I id see it on the balcony, but when I clicked on it, it vanished never to be seen again! What is the solution? There is no mention of it in any of the walkthroughs. Please advise.
