deleterman,

Is this the casual puzzle game? If so, I will move you to casual forum.
There are several that I see googling but not sure of the safety of those sites. I will check more.

---
Maybe someone would know which site is safe for you to download this free game.

I took a look and I'm not sure about the sites that I am seeing, either. I don't want to provide a link unless I'm sure it's a safe site.

Are you talking about this game?

If that's the one, my brother bought it many years ago.
I think I have a copy on my old laptop.
It may have needed compatibility mode in XP.

It doesn't work in 64-bit Windows 7 no matter what the compatibility mode is set to. I think it contains 16-bit code.

Of course you may be thinking of a different game with the same title.

Try Sokoban++

It works perfectly on my Win7 64 bit computer. It even has a skin that looks exactly like that Box World game. I play it every day, it's one of my favorite games. I have a collection of levelsets that I've had for years that must contain thousands of levels. I don't remember where I got that collection, but I would be glad to email it to anybody that wants it. It's about 1.5 MB zipped up. Just send me an email, and I'll reply with the zip file attached.

How about the screenshot here

I'm sure it's older than that. According to this website, 1992.
http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/boxworld-jeng-long-jiang1992/
Which would explain why it's 16-bit.
It was probably made for Windows 3.1.

Yes, that's the one my brother bought.
He got it straight from the developer.
Came on a floppy.

It would probably work in Virtual PC or some other emulator.

EDIT...

I just tested Boxworld with Windows 3.1 installed inside DOSBox -- and it works fine.

If you have a copy of Windows 3.1, there are instructions on how to install it inside DOSBox at VOGONS...

It will probably work with any version of Windows that is not 64-bit.
I've played it in Windows 95, 98, 2000, and XP (and now Windows 3.1 inside DOSBox).
It would probably also work in 32-bit Vista and Windows 7 -- at least with compatibility mode.

The original Boxworld is definitely my favorite implementation of Sokoban.
The others just aren't as much fun.
