Re: the WT, I am in part 2 the Hallway, and have to solve a puzzle in the reception hall involving a UV light and some runes. I don't have the phone, or the light and have retraced my steps to the basement, and everywhere else looking for them. Cannot continue without solving this particular puzzle. Any ideas, anyone?

I took a look at the walkthrough and apparently the UV light is in the basement.

The walkthrough says:

Quote:
Return to the Basement.
Place the LEVER (D). Select E-D-E.
Select the phone 3x; take the USB CABLE (F). Look at the note; take the UV LAMP (G).

See if that helps - if not, maybe someone else will know and/or we can take another look at the walkthrough. I don't think the game is completely linear, so there may be some other things that you haven't done yet in order to proceed.

I checked out your WT and it looks as if the magnet comes off the crate. I can't get that to happen. The crate just moves forward, backwards, up and down but the magnet stays attached. There is no UV lamp or phone, etc. What am I doint wrong?

I'm completely unfamiliar with this game so unfortunately I don't have any satisfactory answers for you. Let's wait for another player to help out.

Meanwhile, I would recommend going over the walkthrough carefully to see if there is something important that you might have missed. Also, try using the hint button in various areas of the game - that might help get you moving again.

Big Fish Games...It's not the Collector's Edition. Haven't had any other problems with it.

Just started the game.
Haven't gotten to any point where you pick up a magnet.
You do move the crate in the basement over to get the UV light and some other thing (USB thing?) that are in a hole underneath the crate.
You need to stick a 2nd lever in the thing by the door in order to move the crate both up and down and side to side.

Thanks, Jenny - that information sounds useful.

There's a magnet sitting on a shelf in a cabinet later on in the game. You don't use it on a crate though. It's for guiding metal balls through a glass tube.

I decided to try the Trial Game yesterday, after seeing the favorable comments, and am VERY impressed so far. There are a few HOG scenes, but overall, it is a complex game where you don't find everything you need in the scene you are in, and the puzzles are great. I am playing the SE, but I think when the trial is over, I'll go looking for the CE version to buy.

Enjoy the game, Reenie. I played the demo and it did seem that the game was somewhat more complex. wave

I just finished this game (CE version) and had no trouble at all with the basement part, getting the battery case. It was a pesky problem to actually "charge" it, though. ha ha

MINI-REVIEW: This game is now in my Top Ten, bumping one of the older ones. It is a BIG game, took several days to play through it, and I loved every minute. I took six pages of notes while playing it, keeping track of where there were things to come back to, what special objects I'd need to find, what I hadn't finished, etc. The premise is nothing new (a dead person kept alive with a machine, so she goes crazy and starts killing everyone), but the game play is innovative. The HOG scenes are not oppressive and are imaginatively constructed. This is not a game for people who don't like puzzles, so be advised. I love tough mini-games that make me get out a paper and pencil (even colored pencils!) and a calculator to solve things, so I was thrilled with Broken Hour. It has a great map to help you bounce around this special house that morphs. Oh, and like most games these days, you can tailor your difficulty from Hold-My-Hand to Hurt-Me. Believe me, you'll want to play on the latter. happydance I definitely will be replaying this one!

Reenie, it sounds like you really got a lot out of this game. The game seems quite challenging, based on your description, and a good one for puzzle lovers. Top ten is high praise. Congratulations on finishing. wave
