Thanks! Yes, I am going on now, but I'm not thrilled with this game. It has the feeling of a much older game, with all the crazy failings those older games had. Certainly, it is not a game someone should play if they don't like Pop-Ups. Every time I find a simple piece of Inventory or solve a puzzle, a screen-filling giant red heart pops up with
"CONGRATULATIONS! You found an XXX. Isn't that wonderful!"? I kid you not about this. No exaggeration.
The voice acting in the game is absolutely laughable. It actually is
so bad that it is entertaining. The villain actually cackles out the old "Mmaah-haah-haaaaah!" Simon LeGree thing.
There are plenty enough HO scenes to make an HO fan happy, but they can be a bit annoying, too. First, the "zone of selection" associated with the cursor is VERY small, so you can click right next to an object and it won't select, so you go on looking for it elsewhere. Second, some of the objects to be found look very little like what you expect. I have used the Hint function more than once, after getting bored trying to find the object I need.
None of the puzzles is difficult, although I selected the HARD setting, so if that appeals to a player, this game might suit.
One thing I
do like about the game is the unusual use of Inventory items. They did a superb job with that facet. One example: You don't put out a fire with water; you find and use a sandbag, dumping the sand on the fire. And so on.
I will finish the game, anyway. I finish them all.
But this one won't be appearing in the "Favorite Casual Games" thread.
