Divine Divinity 2 question

Divine Divinity 2 question - 03/06/11 03:12 AM

I'm playing this for the first time, and have a couple of questions for any veterans out there:

1. In the Imp Mines, there's a series of jumping platforms that gets to be downright annoying towards the top (and if I wanted Tomb Raider, I would have played Tomb Raider, mutter, mutter hardwall). Is this an optional place to go?

2. I have the ability to become a dragon - and can't go anywhere! Does the game open up again? I do hope it isn't going to have a disappointing second half. The first half was so much fun.

I don't recall the details anymore but there is an awesome guide here.

I loved the game all the way through so I do not recall it becoming dull in the latter half.

Have fun!

Good. I've loved the game so far.

I must say that my tolerance for Tomb-Raider-style jumping tricks has worn away. I just want to get on with the game, not spend my time endlessly falling into lava pits. I spent five years of my life doing that about 13 years ago lol It's been rather done to death.

Actually I'm going to edit this to say that I feel the jumping has spoiled the game for me. I must have spent two hours trying to get through Barnabas' cave, and I simply can't get past the jumping. I my mind, it doesn't fit the game. In an RPG I want to be playing, not, as I say, endlessly falling into lava pits.

Is there any way to cheat past these sections? The thought of another hour reloading makes me a bit sick.

I loved the first half of this game, hagatha, but after much thwarted effort and great frustration I eventually had to just give up on the second half altogether ....

I hope you find a way to carry on luck

This game is so good!. And so is the extension that I am playing now. But it is so hard, even on a very very easy level. Jumping platforms and flying dragon, had me pulling my hair out many times. But don't let this keep you from playing on... You will get it eventually. I feel that if I can do it, anybody can: I am so bad at this jumping and all. I hate playing a RPG and having to work so hard to get through it, but this one deserved it!
If you are talking about "Depleting Ore Mine" those platforms only lead to a chest, certainly not necessary to the quest you are doing!

Thanks, everyone. I managed to get through one of the jumping platform areas after many tries. Oh, the number of times I longed for Lara's ability to grab onto a ledge, as I narrowly missed landing on a platform and plunged to the lava instead. And my Quicksave failed me twice during the process, dropping me to the desktop and requiring me to start all over again. hardwall

Now I'm stuck in the Imp's Lair with a burning doorway that causes my character to burn forever, with predictable results. Last attempt I used up up 26 healing potions. Must be doing something very wrong... lol

I love being the dragon, though. I have no trouble playing the dragon. I'm going to abandon the Imp Lair for a while and just fly around the fjords for a time.

Edit: This game is really very good, jumping aside. I'm playing an archer, virtually no combat skills, no mage spells except Healing. This was a very hard character to start with but now, with level 8 in explosive arrows and a few levels of evade and the skill that returns damage to the enemy, plus some good enchantments, my character is almost immune to melee weapons. I always ended up playing an archer in the original DD, too.

Because this is so much later, I'm adding another post.

I am in my second run through of the game, and am once again pulling my hair out with the jumps. This time, my character just falls off ledges instead of leaping. On level ground, no problem, I can run and jump all I want. On a platform, no dice.

I'm really fed up. Is there any way to cheat past this section? A god mode? Some way to just get past this? I'm on the EASY jumping part of the Temple, and I can't do it. Run, hit the space bar, fall off ledge. Rinse and repeat at least 50 times, and not one leap, not one. Every single time, my character just falls off the ledge instead of jumping. I've no interest in continuing this.

I loved the first half of the game, hagatha, but the very type of thing you're describing (plus my inability to be a very good flying dragon) got me so fed up I ended up uninstalling the game and selling it on.
I never found a God Mode frown

I loved DD1 but hated DD2 for similar reasons - the game is one giant leap backwards for enjoyment. Sorry about the pun. wave

Hagatha, I found some trainers with unlimited health and other cheats on This Site. However, I have never used this site and can't tell you anything about it's safety.

Did you check on Larian's DD2 Forum? For the original, their forum was a big help for maps etc.
