Manual for Oblivion Game of the Year - 11/01/12 05:04 PM

Hi smile

I just gave away my GOTY version of Oblivion - exactly as it was when I bought it - just two DVDs in a plastic DVD case.

However The recipient is asking about the manual.

I thought there must be one on one of the disks (PDF) as I could never have attempted an RPG without a manual.

But he says there isn't one woozy

Does anyone know where it would be on the disks, please ??

Thanks.

Within the box entitled Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion Game of the Year, click on the blue arrow that points downward; that should bring up the download for the manual. wave

Thanks to all.
I found it!!

So thanks to B.E.T., Mad, and Marian (in no particular order)

Now perhaps I shall know what I am doing in this game. The only game of this type that I have ever tried was the Tomb Raider series, on with which I did not get.

Next thing I shall be asking for is obviously a W/T!

Feel free to ask any and all questions about the game; there are plenty of Oblivion players here. I hope it's a fun and interesting experience for you. wave

Petert, Oblivion's a great game, but very unlike the Tomb Raider games. Oblivion is more like having a second life. You have a huge amount of freedom in what your character is like, what you do, where you go, who you befriend, and who you antagonize. You can be a morally upstanding character or play in the shadows, or move between the two. And you can ride a horse.

My favourite character is always a thief/assassin type. What did you pick?

If you need some pointers, let us know.

Cheers.

Been away for a couple of weeks, so haven't been near a PC or read any recent posts for a while.

Anyway, having printed off the game manual, the like of which I have never seen before - 49 pages in total - and looked at data on the net about the game, I have not yet made a serious attempt to start the game. So I don't really have much of a clue about its scope, except that it is BIG. As it is the first RPG I have really set out to have a go at, I think I need to set aside a couple of days to experiment before starting it in earnest. When I do finally start, I have little doubt that I shall need a great deal of assistance.

peter, the game will take months to play if you do all the side quests and enjoy your time. It's well worth it. YOu will learn as you go. It's an incredible journey.

"I think I need to set aside a couple of days to experiment before starting it in earnest."

That's what I usually do with RPGs, petert, to get a hang of how to do things before starting the game "proper" thumbsup

A tip for the beginner in Oblivion. You start in a dungeon, a certain person will meet you and ask a lot of questions wink - then at the end of very long tunnel you can change these answers if you're not happy with them. You can even decide which skills are going to be your major skills etc.

I tend to forgot this, as I normally play a characters that wears medium or heavy armour, is very good with a bow and a sword or maybe an axe.
In order to level up correctly I have to pick the bow as a major skill.

In Oblivion, you level up when your major skills goes up 10 points, I think? (it's been a while since I played this game....)

The best thing is this:

You can do exactly as you please, if you do not care for the main quest, ignore it, and check out the beautiful landscapes etc. If you care for the main quest, go finish it. And then finish the rest of the quests in the game...

The best part of Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim: Just travelling and finding places on my own. Got to see some interesting places that way.
