The Universim (Kickstarter)

The Universim (Kickstarter) - 05/23/14 02:54 AM

This is a game that sounded interesting, and hopefully fun, to me. I didn't think of posting it here until now. There are 38 hours left in the kickstarter and it has already reached its goal so this will be an opportunity to get in on the kickstarter if you want.

It's the kind of game where you manage the environment and that affects how the population grows on your new planet.

I pledged $15 which gives me the DRM game and the Steam version.

It's the DRM free version you get including access to the exclusive Steam beta.

Thanks Bob wave Love getting in on the ground floor, though do remember, just because a project funds, does not mean you will get the reward 100% of the time. Most of the time I do, but I have not on several occasions and of course, you do not get your money back wave

Smiley456, I am a little confused by this. I did see in the main page that the reward is the Steam beta but then in Update #27 they wrote this:
Quote:
As a result, all backers will receive BOTH a Steam key and the DRM-free version of the game to download from our website!

This sounds like it is a Steam key for the finished game. Anyway, it doesn't really matter to me. I probably won't play the beta and definitely won't use Steam after I get the DRM copy of the finished game.

I didn't know that l4l. I mean I have heard of actual fraud on kickstarter but it sounds like you are saying that sometimes the project just never complete's and you don't get your money back.

I have actually not used kickstarter very much yet. This one looks legit but of course, who knows what the future will hold. I consider it a reasonable gamble of my $15.

Bob, yep that's it. I have gotten my reward 80% of the time, but sometimes even though they project funded and the person has another project or two funding, I have not received my reward and don't hear back from the originator when I email them. Most of the time though I do get my stuff and have had good experiences with KickStarter. I minimize risk by not pledging any large amounts, and researching the originator when I can. KickStarter warns you about that in the faq's. wave

Thusfar only 1 project I supported went dark just before funding (a movie, I wrote about it here: Article). I got suckered in by wielding names like Claudia Christian and Jodelle Ferland, but the company was an unknown and the director had virtually no experience. I'm still trying to get my money back.
Another movie is nearly done (unknown producer, got backed up by a webtv company with multiple titles to their name), the games I supported, The Asylum and Delaware St. John are in various stages of development (two developers whose previous games I have played before. Your kickstarter mileage will vary.

The Kickstarter is now done and well over full funding. This means some extra things are promised. This is a long wait to the Oct 2015 release, if it is even done by then, so I will do my best to forget about it for now and it will be a pleasant surprise if, and when, it happens. smile

That's a great way to look at it. And then it's fun when you you get something unexpected wave
