It's really pretty good - I never could work out why people hated it so.
Unfortunately, my game started to crash all the time when I was a long way in, and I abandoned it.

I'm doing well with it, thank you looney4labs, and enjoying myself, and obviously hoping NOT to experience the woes that hagatha mentions

I played Forsaken Gods many years ago. I did enjoy it, but I'd rank it much below all the other Gothic games. I finished Gothic 4 (Arcania) recently and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would after playing the demo and being disappointed. I just picked up Risen 3 in the Steam sale at a great price and hope to play it soon.

I have Gothic 4 waiting in the wings, Pokey, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy that, too !!

The Gothic game series is one of those with which I've had a love/hate relationship. I enjoyed the stories, but the glitches that followed the series always gave me pause. Though, I still tended to be a staunch (or is that stench
) defender of the games for whatever reason. Probably just my love for RPG's in general. Hope you have fun playing Mad!

Truth is, the Gothics were great games for their time and I still like playing them. They're no-nonsense, unabashed tough-guy RPG's. When I read the new breed of fantasy writers like Morgan and Abercrombie I am reminded of Gothic. No fantsypansty elven dagger-whirlers. Just tough guys.

I'm having to play my Gothics in-between other games at the moment, Trail_Mystic, because my stack of "not yet ever played" games has got so absolutely ridiculous
But I'm still having fun with them

It would be, except I usually PLAY such a character.
Though my current one is not elven.

Me, too. And it 's much, much worse since I started downloading games from GOG and Steam. MUCH worse.

Same here, hagatha
But all the same, better than
not having a game to play !!

Re: Oh, no !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 07/24/15 01:42 AM
Yes. With games there is always something to do. People ask me what I do with myself now that I'm retired. "Don't you get bored?" they ask. "Not on yer life," I answer. I get up in the morning and go to the gym, come home and walk my cat outside for a couple of hours, maybe get some groceries, and then I have all afternoon to choose whether to go for a walk, read a book, watch Netflix, or play a game. More often than not, the game wins.

Nice to know you are enjoying it. I was so discouraged at the scores. This has encouraged me to play it.
