Any ETA on the new information about KotFE? | 09.02.2015, 10:44 AM

Hey folks!

I know there are some questions about when you are gonna have some new Fallen Empire information, so here are some scheduling tidbits on what you can expect.

Our plan right now is that starting this week, over the next four weeks, we will be releasing three Class related blogs each week. One blog, will cover the Class changes which the mirrors are receiving. The other two blogs will be a full recap of those Classes stories, told from the SWTOR Encyclopedia. So, for this week you will be getting:

The Class changes coming to Knights and Warriors*
A recap of the Sith Warrior story.*
A recap of the Jedi Knight story.*

*The schedule this week will be a little different from the next few weeks.

We will then mirror this over the next three weeks for the other set of Classes. I will let you know if for some reason that changes. I know there are other questions pending, and we are working on other posts and blogs to cover those topics as well. You will see those published over the next few weeks as we move towards the launch of Fallen Empire! Thanks.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/03/15 06:48 PM

There is actually some confusion about who the Jedi Knight faced at the end of chapter 3.
Click to reveal..
The jedi believe it was the Sith Emperor. But according to a mail sent to Sith Warror character from the Hand it was actually the Emperor's Voice. But when you get Jedi Knight to Shadow of Revan, Darth Marr will admit it was the Emperor but you only killed his body, not his spirit. But then later in Shadow of Revan your character claims i was the Voice. I think the writers got confused. It has to have been the Emperor because in Shadow of Revan and Rise of the Emperor he's a disembodied spirit.

Lots of stuff going on at SWTOR that's for sure. thumbsup I'm betting they really increased their subscribership with all the new content and perks.

My Sith Jugg/Tank is right on the edge of level 60 (great for PVP Hutt Ball), so I've started running a Sith Assassin. I know that's basically just a stealth tank, but they have the feel of a Battle Mage, which is the kind of RPG character I usually run. I'm thinking I'll probably use him for the end game stuff. Also started a Republic Smuggler who's a Sith Pure Blood (what! a Sith working for the Republic! lol ) and a Miraluka Jedi Consular. Going to try and level both of those as much as possible over the holiday weekend since I'm stuck at home facilitating a software install for work. rolleyes

I agree with the point that was made about betas. I understand that "Early Access" is given as a sort of Beta for subscribers, but I think they should open up a formal beta when they make changes like this. It's been a long time for me and I'm just starting to again understand power combinations, but I can see how these types of changes can get folks riled if they identify with long term characters they've developed.

Of course, like a good friend of mine says, "Never let yourself get too comfortable if you want to have a long interesting life." It's good to shake the dust off now and again even if it makes a few people sneeze lol

Conquest Changes in Fallen Empire | 09.08.2015, 10:32 AM
Hey folks,

In Fallen Empire we will be making changes to Conquests so I wanted to let you know about what is being adjusted. One thing that we noticed in looking at Conquests is that not as many players as we would hope are completing their personal targets. We feel this may be because the targets are too high, requiring more time to complete than many players may have available. Because of this we are adjusting the target points for rewards in some Conquests:

All Conquests which previously required 35,000 target points have had that target number reduced to 20,000.
Titans of Industry will remain at 25,000 target points.
Total Galactic War will remain at 50,000 target points.
Trade Emporium will remain at 25,000 target points.

Note that Guilds will still compete, as normal, for the top 10 on each Planet once these targets have been reached.

In looking at our data and in seeing playing feedback, one thing we have noticed is that many Guilds are primarily using the repeatable Crafting objective to gain points for Conquests. Although we want to include Crafting as an essential part of the Conquest effort, we don’t want that objective to be the “only best answer” to Conquests. Due to this we are making the following changes:

The Objective “Conquest: War Supplies” is no longer repeatable and is set to reward 2,000 Conquest Points for any Conquest that included that objective.

These changes will be reflected in Knights of the Fallen Empire when it launches. Thanks everyone.

EV and KP Nightmare Removal in Fallen Empire | 09.08.2015, 10:24 AM
Hey folks,

Around launch when we implemented the Nightmare versions of Eternity Vault and Karagga’s Palace, they were not quite the same as the Nightmare modes you are used to now. Basically, those old Nightmare ops were simply the same Operations with more health, that did more damage.

With the changes we are making in Fallen Empire, all Operations will now be at max level, this means the differences between Hard and Nightmare EV and KP, just don’t stack up against the difficulty differences found in other Operations. Because of this, we are going to be removing Nightmare Mode Eternity Vault and Karagga’s Palace from the game with the launch of Fallen Empire. This will raise a couple of questions about things like Titles and Achievements so here are a few details of the change:

Any unique drops that were found in these Nightmare Modes will now drop in Hard Mode.
The timed run Titles for Nightmare Mode can no longer be earned in Fallen Empire.
Any Achievements which you have earned for these Nightmare Modes will be moved to a new Archived section under Operations, and can no longer be earned.

If you would like to get the timed run titles or NM achievements, now is your chance! Get in there before Fallen Empire launches. Thanks everyone.

They must have been up to something on the servers yesterday afternoon, because I was kicked off 3 times after experiencing some aweful lag. The third time I completely lost the server list and had to close out to get back in again.

You are one marathon SWTOR gamer GT- I've only just finished Chapter 1 of my Sith Inquisitor/Assassin build and that's after some pretty long gaming sessions. Just turned to level 38 after a confrontation with my character's "Master" but haven't been formally granted the title of lord yet.

This may sound silly - but I have 2 accounts. razz

My main acc. (Pre-Order Collectors Edition subbed) I have characters on 4 servers.
- 8 60's + 5 chars between 16-32 on Shadowland - This one has maxed Legacy.
- 8 chars beween 17-22 on Harbinger - Legacy 12 I think laugh
- 4 chars 12-17 on Jedi Covenant
- 3 chars 10-16 on The Red Eclipse

Second account (Digital Deluxe subbed) I'm on 2 servers with 4 chars.

Don't ask me why I have a second account, I can't remember.. lol
But it gives me plenty of variety.
Although have to say - you get kinda spoiled, once you have maxed legacy and unlocked bunch of stuff in collections. Makes it hard to be without, so I must admit to spending somewhat lots of real money on unlocking on secnd account! razz

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/11/15 06:35 AM

OK, so Sith Assassin, not quite as easy to play as a Juggernaut. I thought he was somewhat overpowered in the early levels with the Overload and Force Lightening abilities, but I've definitely been getting my butt kicked more often with this character.

Oh yea, a word to the wise - Don't ever try to stealth through the Republic Heroic area on Hoth when you are a level 40 Sith, it does not end well. slapforehead

It was kind of funny though, while running away and watching my health level get completely wrecked by the level 50+ Republic Soldiers blasting me with their rifles my character actually had his arms held up in the air like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NOOOOOO, NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD! LOL! First time I ever saw that and it had to be a bit of tricky programming by the Devs. lol

Game Update 4.0 Class Changes: Smuggler + Imperial Agent

Next week: Trooper/Bounty Hunter.

As I suspected would be the case, a developer has said that Nico Okarr will become companion for those who subscribed by the deadline as part of Knights of the Fallen Empire. So you won't get him until level 60 and until you start KOTFE.

Sith assassin and jedi shadow wear light armor which does make a difference. I think its harder to tank on them then on the heavy armor tanks.

Yep, totally agree. It's taken 40 levels, but I've finally got the hang of how to work with him. Part of it is definitely related to armor maintenance. Adaptive armor is definitely the way to go so you can upgrade the enhancements, mods and so on every few levels especially when you reach the 30's. I could really notice the difference.

Click to reveal..
I'm leveling him up to 45 by going through the Belsavis quest arc before facing Darth Thanaton.
Right now I'm at level 43+, but playing with armor from the high 30's, which is definitely challenging in these quests. I still haven't gotten into crafting so need to rely on purchased upgrades. There's a 4 level gap in availability for the higher quality armor enhancements at the commendation merchants (above premium) and I don't want to settle for level 41 now that I'm so close to 45.

Also figured out it's best to send a tank companion in first, use my ranged powers to knock down the highest level opponent and then jump in with melee/force combos. I'm finding Ashara a much better battle companion than Khem, now that I've got her armored up, in that regard. Plus Khem is just so darn big, he gets in the way all the time when I'm trying to stealth or when battle takes more concentration.

They (Assassins) really do play like a D&D multi-classed character such as a Spell Sword. Those have always been more difficult than pure class characters like straight-up Juggs and Sorcerers.

Took me 4 times before I finally brought that boss down and only after upgrading all of Ashara's gear (she still died every time about half way through the fight) plus a few pieces on my character I originally thought were sufficient. Also purchasing a high-level crafted Endurance/Defense stim off the Galactic Trade Market was a big help.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/15/15 02:47 PM

Well, apparently today is the last day for the Ilum/Gree Dailies and Quest PVP runs.

I was able to run both area PVP's and almost all the Dailies early this morning before the updates started. The only Daily I didn't attempt was the Heroic area since I was on my own and I think it was rated at 60 while my Tank was still at 57 at that time. I did end up chewing through about 10 Specialist Health packs and two Specialist Fortitude stims on the other quests though.

Ended up helping a group take down the waves of Battle Observer and Ancient Driods around one of the big Pylons right by the Gree ship just for fun, it was a heck of a battle even with 4 of us plus companions, but got some really good loot out of it.

The only part of the PVP I couldn't complete on my own was the final bonus of taking down the Ancient War Droid. That thing has over 500K health! I held my own for quite sometime, but just wasn't taking enough damage fast enough. Once my saber shield wore off, my health started dropping at a rate that was equivalent to the droid, except it still had 300K left to my 30K. Not much I could do except battle it out until the inevitable end. If it's still available late this evening I might try the run again, but with one of those huge Endurance/Defense stims I bought off the Galactic Market for the other boss battle.

The run seemed to be worth it, all the gear I picked up was substantially higher in stats than what I currently have, with the exception of Shielding and Defense. Also picked up some really unusual enhancements and mods as loot drops. Credits were moderately good, but I think I'm just spoiled by the late class runs having such big payoffs. I may try running my Assassin through the gauntlet later today as long as I don't get trashed by too many 'Pubs I should make it through.

I thought the lead in to the Dailies and PVP Quest was funny. It was basically built up like a UFO report. I kept thinking, "A UFO sighting, on Star Wars, really?" LOL lol

It does have some pretty cool foes. I wish I would have done more of the dailies and PVP's sooner though. If you achieved a high enough status I think you are able to board the Gree ship and that thing looked pretty cool. Apparently, it's a re-occurring feature that's been running since 2013 according to the Developer's blog I found - I'm sure Guybrush or Misslilo can verify. I hope so because I'd really like to run through all the available quests.

Hey folks,

As I mentioned in my previous post, the plan for getting Nico in Fallen Empire was that you would recruit him into your Alliance as you were playing through the storyline. However, knowing the concerns about how you access Nico, we are also going to send you a token in the mail which will allow you to have Nico right away. If you want to get Nico as a part of playing through Fallen Empire, you can still do that. Just delete the token from your mail and you will get him naturally. On the flip side, if you claim the token we will still let you do his recruitment mission later on, you will just already have him.

This way the decision is in your hands on whether you want to get him as a part of the recruitment, or if you just want him right away. And it is worth repeating, that Nico is only accessible to those subscribers who qualified for him.

Hopefully that clears up any confusion (which I created ).

I disagree, the Republic is entirely corrupt. While the empire isn't. The capital city of the Republic except for the Senate Tower which is under guard, is a giant slum. Most of the Republic's capital is run by gangs. On the other hand the Empire's capital has no criminal element On the Republic captail planet you fight republic criminals, inside the city. I suppose it depends on perspective and one's definition of corruption.

If as in the Empire, gaining personal power through exerted attrition, killing, marshal punishment and maintaining social stability by fear of force and slavery is followed as a common way of life, then yes, the Republic would seem wholly corrupted by definition since their overarching philosophy is allegedly peace and freedom through ethical self-motivation for the benefit of the Republic as a whole.

It seems the social and ethical breakdown of the Republic is due in part to the aftermath of the war. Similarly, the war and a precipitated loosening of tradition in the Empire opened the door for more Sith in-fighting and power leveling using less than accepted means.

I think the message they get across is that there is no "black and white" or true good and evil due to the shades of grey that emerge in politics and associated power struggles.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/20/15 06:03 PM

Sith in fighting mostly effects the sith. The majority of imperials live out their lives never meeting a sith.

The Republic is a lot like real life, democratically elected senators become corrupted by power they, forget they are supposed to be public servants, not masters. The Sith are like real world dictators, they look bad until they're removed from power and then it turns out they were actually holding back something worse.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/21/15 01:49 AM

Well, my Trooper is doing a pretty good job cleaning up crime and corruption in the Republic *Trail assumes hero stance as a glint of light bounces off his smile* lol The Trooper is kind of fun to play, but depressing too because of the stuff we were talking about earlier.

So far while I liked the Sith Warrior's game play, I enjoyed the way they handled the Sith Assassin's story line a little better because it felt more D&D, more strategy. You had to think a bit more before acting. The go kill this, go retrieve that quests can get a little wearing at times.

The Trooper story line is playing out somewhat like the Sith warriors, although some of the choices have been a little more intriguing. I forgot how that Bioware technique of presenting a 3-4 word summary of your response can be really confusing. Seems more so on this quest arc than the last two. I've picked dialogue choices that turned out completely different than I interpreted them and some of the Dark Side vs. Light Side choices took a little thought to figure out why they planned it that way.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/21/15 04:20 AM

I recall coming across the same issue in either Mass Effect or Dragon age. The option for your character's dialogue response would be something like "Tomorrow is a new day" so you pick that option and your character would say, "We have no choice, but to attack. We'll use the same strategy from the bridge" I'm just making this up, but you get the drift, what you thought would be the response and what your character said had nothing to do with each other, so you just stare at the screen with a blank expression and move on. lol

General Garza seems to like darkside choices better than lightside ones, since lightside choices often mean reinterpreting her orders.

Commendation Changes in 4.0 | 09.22.2015, 01:35 PM

Hey folks,

I wanted to let you know about what changes are coming to Commendations in Fallen Empire, this way you can plan accordingly. Simply put, only the names of some existing Commendations are changing. There are no conversion rates or anything this time around.

Basic Commendations will now be called Common Data Crystals
Elite Commendations will now be called Glowing Data Crystals
Ultimate Commendations will now be called Radiant Data Crystals
All other Commendation names remain the same.

Again, there are no conversion rates pre/post Fallen Empire. Thanks!

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 09/28/15 06:32 PM

Intersting, well as with rogue/stealthy characters in many games there is also the potential of leveling slower due to the lack of xp earned while sneaking rather than battling/killing opponents. I wonder if they will do anything to counter that or if it will remain the same as it is.

During quests where I was stealthy, I made it a point to attack at least one group of foes to see if there was a bonus quest task associate with killing a certain number of them, which seems fairly common in SWTOR. In most cases there was and if I were to have stayed stealthed through that part of the quest, I wouldn't have known about the potential bonuses. Not as much of an impact right now with the subscriber xp% bump, but once that goes away or if I choose to go Free-to-Play at some point it would make a difference.

Introducing the SWTOR Answers HQ Page | 09.28.2015, 03:43 PM
Hi everyone!

I wanted to let you all know of an upcoming to change to the Customer Support forum – namely, that they won’t be around anymore. We are creating a new Answers HQ page for SWTOR at answers.ea.com. This move from the existing Customer Support forum will allow players to help players in a better capacity, with EA employees monitoring replies and ensuring correct and useful information is promoted, in an environment where active and helpful players are rewarded.

As part of this, non-subscribers will also be eligible to receive web-based support by utilizing the Answers HQ page! We are currently planning for this transition to occur on October 5th. As of this date, these forums will be in read-only mode and the link to the CS forum will redirect to the new AHQ page. At a later date, the forum will be removed completely.

We look forward to seeing you on the new page!

The market changes sound good as long as we don't get a ton of people running around on giant mounts like the Rancors. I know it's somewhat of a PVP status symbol, but it's really annoying when you're in the market or checking something out and the next thing you know your field of view is filled with the hind end of a Rancor. smirk I'm willing to bet those giant mounts don't do much for lag on the fleets either.

Companion Affection Achievements in Fallen Empire | 10.06.2015, 12:34 PM

Hey folks,

I wanted to pass on some information regarding changes to Companion Achievements in Knights of the Fallen Empire. As many of you know, Affection is being changed to Influence to coincide with your Character's Alliance. Due to this, we are going to be removing all of the "Reach Max Affection" Achievements from the game, along with the Achievement points which they have granted. We didn't want to create a situation where a very large number of Achievement points was no longer accessible. You can click the spoiler tag below to see a full list of all of the Achievements being removed.

As a note, the Achievements for "Loyalty to the [Class Name], which were granted for maxing Affection for all of that Classes Companions are going to be changed as well. Now, you will complete that Achievement by completing the "Kill x enemies with x as your active Companion" Achievements. To make up for the loss of Achievement points made via these changes, we have also adjusted the following:

We have increased the point values for the “Kill 1,000” Achievements from 5 to 20.
We have added a new “Devotion to the [Class]” Achievement for completing all of the “Kill 1,000” Achievements for a given Class/Faction. When completed, you will be granted the Imperial/Republic Squad Commander title respectively.
We have added “Kill x” Achievements for both ship droids.

Thanks!

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 10/21/15 09:11 PM

You do lose your original companions and ship. If you're a jedi knight, or an imperial agent you will get one of your old companions back. You also eventually get your ship back.

Companions can die. In fact on my jedi knight I created just for KOFTE my very first companion didn't even survive the first chapter. The jedi lost one other companion so far. I'm sad about that.

They apparently changed their minds about alignment, they don't give your new character lightside for republic and darkside for empire, you actually start out neutral.

You do find out what happened with the former sith emperor, but its not entirely resolved until probably the end of Knights.

I chose not to unlock the smuggler guy but to wait until he appears in the story. You get a device in mail that lets you unlock him without having to play knights if you want.

Its wierd on existing characters. Because companions no longer get stats from armor (they do weapons), old companions appear wearing just chest armor. They're all running around without pants. All the old armor shows up in your inventory so you can either recloth them or sell the old armor. If you goto knights the companions will disappear anyway.

Yosomono (japanese for stranger) has completed Knights of the Fallen Empire chapter IX. There are side missions including solo flashpoint, to do while waiting for future chapters.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 10/22/15 06:27 PM

Another small update today, 4.0A. Companions missing armor and weapons are mailed to you companions on characters not yet level 60 can still be used to play the class quests without running around without armor our weapons.

So far Knights of the Fallen Empire consists of 9 chapters each featuring several quests. You gain your first new companion during chapter 1, but
Click to reveal..
no matter what you do he dies at the end of the chapter, appearing later as a force spirit.
. NPCs will remember choices you make, apparently this will have an effect on how they treat you later on. Companions will approve or disapprove of your actions. gaining and losing Influence. Loses can be offset with gifts.

There are a few side quests and after completing chapter 9 you get a solo flashpoint. The first side quest I encountered is during chapter 4, it rewards a mount. Most of the other side quests come during and after chapter IX. Some of the quests just involve talking to NPCs. A pad gives such quests and in a nice twist you can actually talk to the NPCS first then get the quests and immediatly be rewarded. Also during chapter IX you can actually gain both Republic and Empire ship's droids as companions.

As I mentioned before two of the companions gained doing the new story are from jedi knight and imperial agent classes. You also encounter a trooper companion but he doesn't join jedi knight, don't know if he rejoins trooper yet. During chapter IX one side quests leads you to recruiting a different former trooper companion. After chapter IX you gain more side quests which will bring in more characters that were formerly class companions as well as bringing in Nico the new companion subscribers earned before the release of KOTFE. These new companions are not considered main characters but can still be summoned for missions.

Most of the side quests take you to another planet. Interesint enough, after completing the quest you have option to recruit an NPC (gaining as companion) or killing him/her. Not sure why you would kill off a companion I suppose some of them will turn on you. Time will tell if me jedi recruiting the former companion of sith inquistor was a good idea or not. Right now I cant actually summon him but I can use him for crafting or gathering I just cant take him with me on missions. Since companions can all be set to tank or heal or dps on the fly, which companion you take is a matter of which one do you like most, unles the mission requires you to take a specific one.

Dialogue with two characters suggests that some one in my alliance will betray me at some point. Don't know who yet.

On old characters, if you are married you may get mail from your spouse who is not sure if you are even still alive. Your spouse is missing in action. Newly created level 60 characters are not married. There are chances to flirt with new companions if you want.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 10/23/15 09:12 AM

Two of the side quests are very annoying. If you want the trooper droid copanion you have to play PVP, 10 round if you win, 20 if you lose. If you want Qyzen, jedi consular companon in your alliance you have to kill a bunch of rare foes. You can solo hard to find foes on Hoth or form groups to kill world bosses. Supposedly if you're playing a jedi consular and all ready had Qyzen to 10000 affection that works out to the 10 influence you need so he'll just rejoin your consular but every other class has to do the hunting. Not sure if the droid works the same way for trooper.

I haven't done the Knights flash point yet.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 10/25/15 08:21 AM

Got M1-4X and Qyzen. 4X mentions his former commander is MIA if you're not a trooper. I've been told if you're a trooper you can skip all the PVP as he just follows your orders to go with you. Also been told Qyzen will recognise the Herald and follow you if you're Jedi Consular without having to go hunting.

Next I've been told to go looking for a doctor whos' a former sith intelligence agent.

Oh...he wants items used in crafting by biochems and some raqhoul plauge items. A barnacle of the eyless is worth 4000 points, which takes you to influence 7. you need 10 to get him. After you give him enough stuff you have to scan the tunnels which are only available when the event is on. Now I know why its on in Nov, Dec and Jan.

Next soloable flash point, which apparently opens up group quests.

During sneak peak your old companions just disappeared but as you found them some of them would appear twice in your companion list which was weird. My jedi knight for example had two T7-01 droids either one of which could be summoned.

Now old companions appear in a list of unavailable companions, you can read a description of them and there is a note about your having lost contact with them. They cannot be summoned. When you find them they move to one of the available listings.

My jedi now has only the one droid.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 10/28/15 09:57 AM

Even if you do Knights on a trooper, Tanno Vik, former trooper companion will not rejoin you. Someone in chat suggested that its because the original voice actor is dead. Or it could just be that he's not a popular companion.

Although you do keep Treek (costs real money) and presumably HK-51 (series of quests to unlock), depending on where you are in the story you may not be able to summon either. One of the new companions is HK-55. Same voice but more comical dialogue. There are times when they want you to solo, no companions an they won't let you change that by bringing out Treek or HK-51.

Well Chapter 1 of Knights of the Fallen Empire is essentially a tutorial, even if you play it on a character you played from level 1 to 60. You start off alone and with only a couple of your skills. Then as you progress through the chapter you regain your skills and a companion.

Other places in the Knights story they have you alone because your companions are off doing something else.

Chapter 2 you're on your own again. Chapter 3 you meet your new crew.

On the imperial side instead of recruiting M1-4X by doing PVP you recruit Major Pierce (formerly Lt. Pierce). So republic character get trooper's droid and empire character get sith warrior's soldier companion.

Been out of town, family reunion in Missouri so haven't been here to post.

Taking a short break from Knights to play lower level characters, getting ship's droids to 100 kills then 1000. New thing: instead of class quests being at a set level which it was possible for you to get above class quests now level with you. Sapphirre, imperial operative just went from level 22 to 23 and her current quest jumped from level 22 to 23 with her. This way your class quests always give you experience. Before update 4.0 you could level past your class quests not gaing experience from doing them. Now that doesn't happen. Sapphirre is leveled above the current planet. She went to level 23 on a level 22 planet so she's been effectively scalled back down to level 22. That's new too. no more can a level 60 character go to a level 20 planet and kill the world boss all by themselves because they're scaled back.

When you decided to start Knights of the Fallen Empire you will be warned of loss of companions and be given several chances to back out.
Once into the Knights of the Fallen Empire you meet former class companions in the following order:
Click to reveal..

T7-01, jedi knight's first companion. This droid will ultimately become your companion. One of the main characters.

Tanno Vik, trooper companion. Does not join you (possibly because original voice actor is dead). First companion you have the option to kill.

Scorpio, imperial agent's droid companion. Will become your companion. One of the main characters.

Yuun, trooper companion. Optional companion.

The following can be met in any order, depending on which side quests you choose to do first:
Xalek, sith inquisitor companion, option to kill, place under arrest or have join your alliance (becoming companion)

Talos Drellik, sith inquisitor companion. Optional companion.

Qyzen-Fess, jedi consular companion, other classes will have to kill 3 world bosses or a dozen lesser foes to win his trust

if republic character: M1-4X, trooper companion, other classes will have to complete 20 rounds of PVP to win as companion
if empire character: Lieutenant Pierce, sith warrior companion, other classes will have to complete 20 rounds of PVP to win as companion

Doctor Eckard Lokin, imperial agent companion, requires Raghoul Plague event to gain as companion
The quest to talk to him becomes available only after you've recruited 3 of the others. On an imperial agent he wants to rejoin you but he's dying and need you to cure him first, and for that he needs the raghoule plague event to be active. If you are not an agent you will need to gain his favor by supplying him with medical supplies after which he will give you a quest requiring the raghoul plague event to be active.

C2-N2, republic side ship droid, becomes companion to all characters if you talk to him
2V-R8, imperial side ship droid, becomes companion to all characters if you talk to him

At this time there are no smuggler or bounty hunter companions available, nor are any of the romanceable companions available at this time. So if your character was marred your spouse is missing. Further chapters will probably bring back the other companions.

Oh I forgot to note: characters do receive a five year old mail message from the romanceable companion, upset that they don't know what's happened to you. Force sensitive ones cannot sense your presence any more and are distraught about it. Vector, imperial agent companion is particularly sad at the loss of his wife. Although not force sensitive his connection to the kilik hive mind normally allows him to sense you (because these bugs are everywhere even when not noticed), but he can't feel your presence and doesn't know how to go on.

If you have HK-51 there is a funny cutscene where a NPC mistakes that assassin droid for the body guard droid HK-55 and 51 doesn't know what "meatbag" is. If you have Treek she leaves the party in disgust that there is nothing to hunt. If you have both you get both.

Meatbag is HK-55's slang for non-droids, sentient beings and animals. Shame 55 and 51 cant actually meet.

That's great that they resurrected that term from the original HK-47 in the old Knights of the Old Republic game. That voice actor did an awesome job in the old game and coincidentally enough, Kris Tabori is the same voice actor doing it now for Knights of the Fallen Empire. It's great that they could retain the same person to do the voices for all the iterations.

I just learned something new.

There's a room with a pad that gives you quests, that you usually get rewarded for immediatley I've found. What I didn't know before is that in that room is a terminal which will let you find your lost companions without having to wait for the story to lead you to them. So if you reall can't stand to be with an old companion you can get them back. I'm waiting for the story.

Doctor Lokin is annoying. First, if you're not imperial agent, you have to earn his trust by collecting medical crafting matarials and/or raghoul plague drops. If you're an agent he remembers you so you don't have to give him anything. Then he sends you to enter the raghoul tunnels and scan several locations. And after all that he then sends you to Tatooine to scan the sarlac pit. I've already fallen in there once (you get the title "Worm Food").

I played SWTOR back when it first launched and up to the point where we got ships. I enjoyed the single-player content, but didn't really have time to make much of the group activities. Still wouldn't. But I am curious if you all think it's worthwhile to get in the mix?

I'm actively playing Elder Scrolls Online these days (because I can play it on PS4, which is easier to manage than the PC in my office, what with the toddler running around). Used to play a lot of WoW.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/10/15 08:47 PM

You rarely have to do group stuff now. You may need another player to do the Knights of the Fallen Empire heroics, but most of the other 2 player heroics can currently be soled since companions are over powered healers. This may of course change. You still need people for non-soloable flash points and operations. But those are optional.

Interesting twist on Lokin's quest. Anybody who has it can plant a probe in the tunnel and every one else who has the quest will have it counted towards their quest, even though not in an actual group. You just stand in the circle and kill the creatures that try to destroy the probe.

Also as long as Lokin in on Alderaan you can journey there free with the new option to get transported right to alliance contacts. Once you finish his quests that's no longer avaialble. And of course the raghoul plaque event moves. Next time it may be on a different planet.

Eergency Alert!

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/13/15 05:47 AM

Doh!. I kept seeing people online talking about Chapter X and return of agent companion Kaliyo D'jannis. I couldn't figure where they were getting this. Its righ in the game. After you complete Chapter IV of KOTFE you get quest line telling you Chapter X is coming soon. If you actually look at the quest log entry it has a silhouette of a female rattakki and the description of terrorist attacking Zakul sounds like Kaliyo D'jannis. That's actually rather annoying since agent already gets Scorpio and Dr Lokin back, while bounty hunter and smuggler don't get any companions back yet. But chapter X is apparently written by the imperial agent storyline so it make sense.

Knights of thr Fallen Empire:
Chapter I: The Hunt
Chapter II: A Dream of Empire
Chapter III: Outlander
Chapter IV: The Gravestone
Chapter V: From the Grave
Chapter VI: Asylum
Chapter VII: Lady of Sorrows
Chapter VIII: Taking Flight
Chapter IX: The Alliance
Chapter X: Anarchy in Paradise
Chapter XI: Disavowed
Chapter XII: ??????
Chapter XIII: ??????
Chapter XIV: ??????
Chapter XV: ??????
Chapter XVI: ??????

Chapter X may be coming out January 2016.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/17/15 06:47 AM

Hidden achievement: once you get Lokin in your alliance, look in the army section for a raghoul hidding in the rafters, Then find a tiny box near Lokin to get raghoul food. You can throw the food to the raghoul once a day per character. When you've fed it 10 times you get an achievement.

Scritchy moves around. Fed him on three characters, in a different place each time.

Apparently also supposed to be one on Alderaan with the raghoul playing king of the mountain, but how to do it is currently unknown.

"Despite being astoundingly proficient at it, Vector no longer does his best Kaliyo impression while in his Healing role."

It was very annoying having Vector talk in Kaliyo's voice.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/19/15 08:01 PM

In Knights of the Fallen Empire: jedi knight or sith warrior going after the Sith Emperor and discovering Zakul, makes the most sense, they both have a history with the Emperor. Smuggler and bounty hunter the least, but smuggler has the best dialogue. Haven't tried bounty hunter yet. Jedi, Sith, Republic trooper, Imperial agent are too serious, smuggler gets to make jokes.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/20/15 10:47 AM

New, nasty bug.

When you get to the point in KOTFE where you are told to talk to the Hutt scientist, make sure you do so before talking to the other NPCs. Because after you talk to the hutt it will want you to talk to the others but if you've done it already it doesn't recognize it and you can't move forward. Didn't use to be that way. Its a new bug the last update introduced. Used to be talking to the others was not connected talking to the hutt. The characters all have quest markers on them so you think you should talk to them BUT DO NOT until after you talk to the Doctor.

My new smuggler can't advance until they fix this bug.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/24/15 05:17 AM

Tuesday's update will partially unnerf companions. Its also going to rename the KOTFE "Heroic 2" quests to something else. Because they discovered players don't play the heroic 2 quests in the rest of the game the same way and by nerfing companions for the one they messed up players enjoyment of the other. People were soloing heroic 2s outside KOTFE but forming groups in KOTFE.

Update will also fix mission bugs but no specifics have been mentioned as of yet. So don't know if it fixes KOTFE chapter IX.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 11/24/15 11:32 PM

Unfortunately a lot of other bugs. Starfortress solo flashpoints when you fall down a shaft, which you have to do, smuggler gets stuck "in the air" so can't take cover, which renders several skills unusable, reduces smugglers defenses and increases energy usage and slows down energy regeneration. The smuggler is not actually in the air, that's just the message you get when you try to take cover.

On level 56 bounty hunter, companion quest for Mako is broken. Quest log shows nothing about what you're too do, shows no reward and lists it as level 0 quest.

Some lower level bounty hunters say their class quest is broken which means they can't advance the story.

Another annoying bug: some companions don't talk when they should like at end of chapter 3, so you cant finish their story and unlock the buffs at this time.

Vector bug talking like Kaliyo is not only not fixed but now its spread to other characters. Ensign Temple also talks in Kaliyo's voice and on jedi knight Doc talks in Kira's voice.

They're being cryptic. Going to be some big announcement for subscribers December 1st. --- I doubt it has anything to do with all these bugs.

There's a thread asking where companion modifiers for new companions are. I posted that those may be among the subscriber awards, since that was on the survey.

Okay there is a way around companions not chatting after finishing class chapter 3. Look in quest log and if there are any nameless quests under Companions, click on each one and abandon it. Then return to ship. If already in ship exit and go back. Companions should now chat.

I posted them right after the chat, but my message vanished. So here's the developer wrap up:
Quote:

Hey folks,

Here is a wrap-up of the things we talked about on the Producer Letter Livestream…

Chapter 10 – Anarchy in Paradise will be launching on February 11th. Along with Chapter 10, will be Game Update 4.1 which will include Fighting for the Eternal Championship, Bowdaar as an unlockable Companion through Alliance, and updates to Crafting. We will have more details on those changes in January.

We have a whole host of new subscriber rewards for you as well:

Be a subscriber on January 11th and receive HK-55 as a playable Companion when 4.1 launches on 2/9.
Be a subscriber continuously from January 11th through the launch of Chapter 16, and receive an entire bonus Chapter where you will play as HK-55!
Be a subscriber on the 1st of each month, and receive 2 days of early access to any Chapter which launches that month. This includes Chapter 10 in February.
There will also be additional monthly subscriber rewards throughout Season 1, most of which will be themed around HK-55.

Throughout the month of December, we will have plenty of things going on as well. The Gree, Rakghoul, and Bounty Contract events will each run for a week. Log in any time from 12/8 to 1/5 to receive our 4th anniversary rewards, including an HK-51 Stronghold Decoration, more information later this week! We will also be running Life Day and Double XP, more info on those tomorrow.

We hope you enjoyed the stream and want to thank you all for tuning in. If you have any questions about the stream or anything else, throw them in this thread and I will work with Ben on getting them answered. Thanks!

-eric

HK-55 is already part of Knights of the Fallen Empire, but
Click to reveal..
the droid sacrifices itself to save you. So many people complained about this they're bringing "him" back.

Not listed in the wrap up, but they confirmed that Chapter X will bring back former imperial agent (rattaki) companion Kaliyo. Bowdaar is smuggler's former (wookie) companion.

Four people won a developer exclusive shirt, but I wasn't one of them. Not surprising, they said they had 7,000 people in chat.

Edit: Oh they also said that choices do matter even if they don't seem to yet. Decisions made in early chapters will have consequences in the future. Did not give any examples.

Edit 2: Odd bug in the system. Companions that can be romanced no longer like courting gifts, but companions that can't be romanced do. Doesn't make sense.

Raikô has completed smuggler storyline and married Akaavi. I didn't think she looked good at all, but since I gave her a modified that made her light orange instead of dark red, they actually make a cute couple. I don't know about them having children with "uncles" like Coros, Bowdaar and Guss. (lol).

Dec 15 – Dec 22: The Rakghoul Plague
Dec 15 – Jan 5: Life Day
Dec 18 – Jan 1: Double XP
Dec 22 – Dec 29: Bounty Contract Week

4th anniversary

Edit; Oh I don't know if they'd be this sneaky, but I just had an idea for what they could do with Mako (bounty hunter companion) in knights.
Click to reveal..
During Mako's quest line, their is dialogue that makes it pretty clear, except to Mako who's rather dense, that Mako is a clone, possibly one of 32 as Republic intelligence is involved in something called "Project 32". So if they wanted, when the Outlander meets Mako in Knights it could be an impostor, one of the other clones.

Alass no class quest bug hasn't been fixed.

Everyone who has completed Knights chapter 1 has received a Darth Marr stronghold decoration. Probably because you temporarily have him as a companion and companions can be placed as decorations in the stronghold. HK-55 can be placed and he stays. Apparently he vanished before.

Fourth anniversary items are at decorations vendor on fleet. You can "buy" up to 50 HK-51 statues, 10 ebon hawk wall decorations and a remote control ebon hawk (regeneration item) all for 0 credits.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - Part 4: Return of the Topic - 12/16/15 10:40 PM

The class stories run close together, but it seems to me the bounty hunter finishes its chapter 3 before other classes, particularly republic ones, have even started their final chapter. The imperial agent chapter 3 includes a briefing in which 3 characters central to the other three imperial classes are mentioned. To know all that going on in the war you need to play all classes. For example you need to play bounty hunter to find out why the republic needs a new chancellor. And the new chancellor is a character republic characters may have previously met. You'll need to play jedi knight to understand the announcement made by the republic at the and of Mekab storyline.

Cactaceae has completed sith warrior chapter 3 and married Malavai Quinn.

Vénjanss is still stuck on Belsavis.

Plague event is still broken and apparently not going to be fixed until next month. They haven't said so but player speculation is most of the staff is already on Christmas vacation. Seems likely that Life Day and Plague event are simply incompatible. Double XP is working though.

Not really. Shiroshishi completed jedi knight chapter 3, becoming a jedi master. If your jedi goes dark side the council finally notices and doesn't make you a master, but don't kick you out of the jedi either.

On Cactaceae, light side sith warrior, I did something I usually skip, I completed the optional Ilum story line which is concluded by two flash points. These used to require a team of 4 players. Now there are solo versions, you, your companion and a droid that's a supper tank.

Updated Event Schedule | 01.08.2016, 08:11 PM
Hey folks,

During the month of December, it was our goal to run all of our recurring events week over week. Unfortunately we hit a bug related to our scheduling and some of them didn’t run properly, including the Rakghoul Plague. We have isolated the issue and will have it fixed in Patch 4.0.4 on Tuesday. With that, we wanted to adjust the event schedule for January to give everyone an opportunity to run all of our events that they missed in December. Here is our updated event schedule for January:

1/12 – 1/19: Relics of the Gree
1/19 – 1/26: Rakghoul Plague – Tatooine
1/26 – 2/2: Bounty Contract Week

Thanks everyone!
