Is this game a "shooter" and if so, how difficult is it ??

I was given it this week.
An old two disk "Sold Out" release. It's in excellent condition but a manual wasn't included.

Hi Mad. I don't know the technical terms of games but I think this is a action platformer game. At any rate it has a lot of jumping and whacking people with things. I played some of it but I am no good at this kind of game which is unfortunate because this game looks great. I'm sure somebody else will come along and tell you better than I can.

This is one of my favorite all-time games. I think it is considered a psychological horror action game.

As Alice you carry a knife called the vorpal blade and pick up other weapons along the way like demon dice. You also will have a deck of cards you throw at the card guards to kill them and other cool weapons. Some parts can be quite difficult such as the boss fights with the Jabberwock and the Duchess.

You might try watching this gameplay video to see if it is something you would like. The Cheshire Cat is worth playing the game alone!

oldbroad is right in that there is quite a bit of jumping and platformy gameplay.

This is a great game! Takes a while to get used to the controls, but so much fun.

I wouldn't call it a "shooter" but it definitely has action.
I've always considered it an "action/adventure" like Tomb Raider.

The action is more difficult than the very first Tomb Raider from 1996, but IMO less difficult than any of the other Tomb Raiders. There is quite a lot of exploration and the locations are interesting. One of my favorite places is the one where you jump on the mushrooms in order to jump higher.

I played Alice years ago using a "god mode" cheat.
That was around the time the games was first released (2000).
I believe these are the cheats I used...
I'm quoting all of them, though I only used the "god mode" cheat.

The "god mode" cheat does not protect you from "instakills" like when the boulder tries to squash you or you fall down a bottomless pit, but it protects you from getting shot by evil cards and whatnot.

Sorry I'm only just able to get back here - but thanks for all the input

I'm useless at Tomb Raider type games

However, as it was a gift, I might just give this one a go, using the God Mode info that YOU provided, Jenny100

Looking at stuff on You Tube stirred up a very, very vague memory of my actually having tried Alice before - many, many years ago. At which time (without a God Mode) I have no doubt at all that I would have given up rather quickly !!
