SEE RELEASE DATE UPDATE IN LAST POSTING

inXile Entertainment is getting closer to the Production Release of Torment: Tide of Numenera and it's looking really good.

Here are videos on two of the major classes within the game; Nano and Glaive, what you could consider Sorcerer and Warrior, respectively.

The magic oriented class of character called the Nano, is derived from Nanotechnology. Torment's magic is really derived from mystical sciences and technologies that tap into powers from the various realms and dimensions. Think of the third point from what's known as Clarke's Laws, based on quotes by the science fiction and futurist author Arthur C. Clarke:

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

The Warrior class of character called the Glaive, which is taken from the term used to describe a bladed weapon. Specifically, a large blade attached to a long shaft. Just as that weapon is considered formidable in combat, so is the Glaive Class. Stronger and able to withstand both tech and melee attacks in combat. The interesting attribute about a Glaive class is that if wished, you can configure them similar to a Ranger; gearing them towards speed, light armor and ranged attacks rather than brute force melee.

The third class, the Jack has not yet had a trailer released. I'll update this posting as soon one is out. The Jack class is derived from the saying "Jack of all Trades, Master of None." So, they are somewhat like a Rogue class, but here they combine some of attributes of a Nano and Glaive with other interesting talents of their own. They are a challenging class, I chose the class while playing in the beta release. Because it's similar to a split D&D class, it takes more time to get them developed, but my take is once they are in the higher levels they can be very formidable against nearly any opponent.

The Jack class video was just posted mid week.

"Jacks don't limit themselves to one skill or tactic, for they shine most when they combine all of their tools. As intrepid explorers and adventurers, they are literally jacks of all trades."

From the desk of Chris Keenan, VP of Development

"Hello Exiles,

Today's update is a little on the short side, but I think you'll forgive us this timeā€¦

We are extremely excited to announce that Torment: Tides of Numenera will be releasing February 28th, 2017! It has been a long journey, and without your help on Kickstarter and our other crowdfunding platforms, it would never have happened. We could not be happier to be delivering a successor to the Torment name and legacy, and we look forward to you enjoying it early next year.

When the game releases, those of you who already have your Steam keys redeemed for the beta version of the game will auto-update to the final build, and those of you who are planning to enjoy the game DRM-free from GOG will be able to as soon as that version is ready. We will also make a key exchange option available around that time for those of you who want to deactivate your Steam key and switch to GOG. At that point, most of the remaining digital rewards will also be made available to you.

For those of you with physical goods, we'll be prompting you to confirm your final shipping information in the near future. We do not have an exact shipping timeline for those goods just yet, but Techland is hard at work getting them ready for you as soon as possible. Please be sure to keep us advised of any changes by updating your shipping details on the backer web site!

Rest assured that while we have our release date, that doesn't mean our work is quite done yet. We'll be using our remaining time to polish the game for you up to the last possible moment. And of course, once we get closer to release we'll have more news to share with you as well.

Chris Keenan,
VP of Development

Me too Debra! thumbsup12

I've been following this one since Alpha and for those who fell in love with RPG's because of the story driven aspects of the early games, this one is going to definitely fall within the "Classic" category. Drawing from Monty Cook's work in his table top/pen and paper game Numenera that's set in the original Torment universe AND having him consult and write really makes this compelling. Considering this broke a number of Kickstarter funding records and Brian Fargo has pledged to keep the classic genre alive, I think this game will keep on giving for a long period of time. yes
