Metro Last Light & 2033 Redux running on Windows 10?

Metro Last Light & 2033 Redux running on Windows 10? - 09/23/17 09:16 AM

Hi,

can anyone confirm that Steam version of Metro Last Light & 2033 Redux work on Windows 10?

The Metro Redux Bundle is currently only 7.49€ on Humble Store sale, but it's no use if they can't be verified to run on Windows 10.

On Steam discussions I find both fail and success stories. No way to confirm how many of failing stories are due to something else than the games itself.

I put much more value for your first hand experiences.

Thanks in advance,
Timo

I have both installed and have played both from Steam on my Windows 10 Pro. My grandson just played Last Light on it when he visited this summer. As long as your computer meets the recommended specs, there shouldn't be any reason they won't work.

Thanks Marian, Drac and L4L!

I've got Win 10 Pro too and my rig exceeds recommended specs with a good margin.

I expect no problems then. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks again,
Timo

Both games install and start just fine! smile

I wonder why so many people report installation and start problems with these games on Steam!?

One common and very possible reason seems to be getting Windows 10 through upgrade process. Removing and re-installing Steam Client seemed to solve those problems for many especially if they had these games before Windows upgrade.

Luckily my Windows 10 Pro installation was fresh and so was the one of Steam Client.

Have not started playing either game yet, actually it would be turn for a non-darkside game - just finished Resident Evil 7 with both endings on Friday.

Happy gaming, everyone! smile

Thanks, Timo, for letting us know.

Love computers, but the weirdness that ensues when a game runs fine on one and not on the other, though they may be identical, has always amazes me.

Interesting thought about it being an upgrade issue... my Windows 10 Pro is from the upgrade process and I didn't have any issues at all with either game. Have fun - they are both great, but Last Light is one of my favorites.

I work on computers a LOT and I agree about the weirdness, l4l!

I've now played the first one (2033) through. It took 17 hours but somehow it felt longer. I played in Survival/Normal mode and for my talent there was enough challenge. It was more than once or twice I died in enemy attacks and when I finally survived it was many times just barely. I played with XBox One controller for PC and I found it very difficult to find controller mappings anywhere, I discovered them more trial and error based. Knife and grenades I left totally aside because I could never figure out how to use them. Orientation was hard. No map, only compass needle to point to next waypoint. In combat it would have been nice to see the compass and shoot at the same time but you had switch between which was chaotic at times. The story was not brilliant but ok and there were not too much repetitive tasks. The graphics of this Redux version were good enough and it ran fluently on WQHD monitor with max settings although there was some stuttering on latter part of the game but not eneugh for me to turn the options down. It was worth playing and there is still the sequel (Last Light) waiting, I see it has much more chapters but I believe they are much shorter as howlongtobeat.com shows similar playtime for both games.

I'm glad you were able to finish it. Sounds like there could be improvements in the interface, but I suppose that is true for most games wavegirl

I liked Last Light much more than 2033. I'd say the play times are similar, but Last Light took me much longer than 17 hours!
