Holy Moly It's Sunday - 09/30/12 05:44 AM

Man is an animal which, alone among the animals, refuses to be satisfied by the fulfilment of animal desires.

Forget about the present, I didn't get you one.

First thing one Monday morning, a robber broke into the bank, and pointed his guns at the cashier said,

'Give me all your money, or you'll be GEOGRAPHY!'

The cashier laughed and said, 'You mean to say 'HISTORY.'

The robber answered, 'Don't change the subject.'

A lady is throwing a Birthday party for her granddaughter, and had gone all out.. a caterer, band, and a hired clown.

Just before the party started, two bums showed up looking for a handout.

Feeling sorry for the bums, the woman told them that she would give them a meal if they will help chop some wood for her out back.

Gratefully, they headed to the rear of the house.

The guests arrived, and all was going well with the children having a wonderful time.

But the clown hadn't shown up.

After a half and hour, the clown finally called to report that he was stuck in traffic, and would probably not make the party at all.

The woman was very disappointed and unsuccessfully tried to entertain the children herself.

She happened to look out the window and saw one of the bums doing cartwheels across the lawn.

She watched in awe as he swung from tree branches, did mid-air flips, and leaped high in the air.

She spoke to the other bum and said, "What your friend is doing is absolutely marvelous.

I have never seen such a thing.

Do you think your friend would consider repeating this performance for the children at the party? I would pay him $50!"

The other bum says, "Well, I dunno. Let me ask him. 'HEY WILLIE! FOR $50, WOULD YOU CHOP OFF ANOTHER TOE?"

A man calls his stockbroker all anxious and out of breath with this urgency in his voice. He says, "Sell it all, sell everything fast, right away." The stockbroker tries to explain that the market is cyclical in nature and that for long term outlook stocks still remain the place to be.
The man says, "Let me tell you a secret. You know I've been married for 6 years now and I've been your client for 5 years."
"Yes, go on," the stockbroker says.
"Well. My wife has this thing about the market. Her grandparents lost it all in the great crash and ever since then her family found investing in the market akin to original sin. When we got married I promised her that I would follow in her parents footsteps and never venture in the stock market and always leave all our money under the mattress."
"Wow, I didn't know that. I guess you want the money because the market is going down, in case she asks for it."
"No, I want the money because she ordered a new mattress and it is being delivered in two days."

Good morning everyboomie. wave

I wonder how many mattresses full of money have been thrown away.

I read that someone trying to take care of their dear old mother, or aunt, bought her a new mattress, and had the old one hauled off to the dump, only to learn that the lady had sewn all her money, and a lot of it, in the mattress. rolleyes

I heard about an old guy, who recently died, had only about $80 in his bank account, but when they were going through his stuff, they found like a half million dollars in gold in his garage. slapforehead

I always wondered what these people intended to do with the money. duh

Do you realize that when the Earth ends, and we all go to that great beyond, that all of the land that people fought wars over, beach front property, resort property, private islands, will be sitting unoccupied for the rest of eternity, except for the ghost of those who died fighting for it, who haunt it.

That all of the gold or money in the whole world, that people worked, slaved, sacrificed their lives away for, that people fought and killed for, will be sitting in vaults and cash registers waiting for the greedy to return, but they never will.

That factories, warehouses, and stores will be full of automobiles like Lamborghinis, that no one will ever drive, big screen HD televisions, and computers that will never be turned on, diamond rings, and ruby bracelets that will never be admired.

That someday our sun will expand so large that it will engulf this planet, and consume it by fire, and that all of those things, those man-made things, that were so important, will be gone forever as though none of them ever existed, and that every trace of man/woman kind will be gone, except for a few craft that we sent on voyages through the stars.

Someday there will be no trace left of our civilization, and all that was built or accomplished by humans, or what was deemed important by you, me or anyone who ever lived on Earth.

There probably have been other great civilizations that grew up, out of nothing, and then disappeared from the face of the universe when their star went super nova.

If contemplation of all of that, doesn't help you put things in perspective, and help you decide what is REALLY important in your life, nothing will.

Someone said it's not what you have, but who you have in your life that matters, and someone said it's not what you say, but what you do that matters.

I feel that when we get to the end of our road, the only thing that really mattered is how we treated those we came in contact with along the journey.

Too bad I haven't always felt that way. smirk

With age comes realization, and hopefully before it's too late, that you haven't always made the wisest decisions.

I'm starting to realize that I should go ahead and renew my membership in the Procrastinators of the World club...

for life.................

think...AFTER I steal a gun,

rob a bank,

steal a Lamborghini,

and go kick some rich guy off of his estate.

He's not going to need it. evil

One other thing that's still very important to me, is that you all have a VERY happy day. flowers

Thanks everyone blush

It is wonderful to be back .. I had such a great time over in Great Britain. The work days were long for me but was able to wiggle in some free time one weekend to jump on a bus and visit. The trip home was smooth sailing...thanks for your thoughts.

Today I'm going to relax ..

Good morning, Gameboomers. wave

My cat and I are trying to come to an understanding. I've explained this to her before but she forgets and I have to repeat myself. "Don't wake me till the clock says 8 0 0 and the sun is up." For a while she will do this. Then she either forgets or it just gets too much for her. I went through this again last night. This morning she woke me at 7. I can't blame her. I must have been at least a little awake because I know my foot was wiggling. This was her Klew to come give me morning greetings of little kisses, head bumps and hollers in my face.

But I had a good night sleep.

Busy day today. Going for a walk soon. Hoping that with enough practice I'll eventually make it into town and the Dairy Queen. laugh

Have a great day everyone and try to fit in some gaming.

Joe you are so right about perspective. smile

Good Morning Everyone. Beautiful here again!! Almost done painting. Joe, you have become quite the philosopher. I still believe in a hereafter or I would be awfully gloomy, I think. Meant to say the pics of you and Peter and Sam are great, Ana. I bet you're excited about the new puter. Glad you are home safe, Soot. We Know L4L is gladdest of all!! Hi to Haroula, venus, Connie, Gail, Space, Sharon B and Darlene and all who are still to come. Keep the walking up SharonB, it will get easier. Are you getting another car snytime soon? Off I go into the wild blue and golden Fall day!! Happy Gaming!!

Re: Two more for Sunday - 09/30/12 07:47 PM

Brrr......cold today. I'm in my fluffy fuzzy and very warm pj's as it's too early to turn on the furnace. Doggy is content to sleep in her bed in the living room but kittys are cavorting all over this 800 sq. ft. house, maybe it's more than that but not not much,

My daughter in Dallas won a 47" TV through a school lottery and her son, Bradley, (my g'son) promptly confuscated it for his X-Box. When she confronted him about this he told her that it's better to ask for forgivness than to ask for permission. So he acquired a new gaming theatre for himself.

Speaking of Dallas -you gamers had 2 earthquakes there in the early AM. Everyone is OK, I hope -any damage?

Enjoy your day

Re: Holy Moly It's Sunday - 09/30/12 08:23 PM

Thanks for asking Lotus smile. Yes, I am happy to say I was able to walk to my doctor's office. It was not quite where I thought it would be, just a little further on. Whoo Hoo! Took 1/2 an hour there and back, so really not that far at all! But, have to admit the calves are tired and a little painful. Will walk in a different direction tomorrow and see how far I get. I'd love to make it all the way to Main street and the Dairy Queen. laugh

No car. Plan to rent for October at least (Twice in the month). I don't go out that much anyway and as long as I don't have to worry about getting groceries and what not I'm not too worried about it. It's an adjustment but a relief not to have to worry about repairs anymore. And truth to say it will be wonderful to drive around in a semi new car instead of of my old 17-yr old banged up car.

It certainly is a beautiful day here. Still have lots to do here and will settle in later with a game.

Ana, I don't know how far town is. Maybe a couple of miles? It's further than I can walk right now, that's all I know. But I will get there. It's not an unreasonable walk.

Looney & Soot - Glad you are together again. Welcome back Soot.

Happy Sunday all!

Holy Moly I sure am late but it has been one of those run around days. Trying to find a rib belt or abd binder but no joy today! Then went to the Moose for a late breakfast cause the ladys had a fundraiser. Then ran to daughters for a few and then picked roomie up at work.

Now I shall relax till time for BINGO!! we are going because every three months they draw ten names from all the names of the people who have been fortunate to win at BINGO in the last three months. And I know my name is in there a few times!! happydance Should be fun!

Hello everybody. wave

I'm as happy as a monkey in a banana tree. woot

I'm as happy as Golum with the one ring. penguin
"My Precious"

I walked around looking for arrowheads for about 3 hours. I walked all over the hills next to our neighbor's place, and then back behind our neighbor's house on the hill going down to the creek, and then down around the creek, and up the hill, and all over the pasture on the other side of the creek.

I found dozens of flint flakes, chips, and chunks, both yesterday, and today.

I was headed back up the hill to the neighbors house, and walking over ground that I have walked over hundreds of times, when I walked over to Baby, and bent down to pick her up, and I found this beauty sticking out of the dirt. puppy

It is the first point I've found in months. woot

We know that the hill underneath our neighbors house is where the native Americans had a camp or village. yes

WooHoo Joe! Well done. yay You deserve it for as hard as you look.

Nan, did you hurt your ribs? I can't imagine not being able to drive. I remember last year when I had my appendix out and it hurt to drive, I still had to try daily. lol
I finished writing but it's not done since that is not the final version. I should be replaying but that's not happening right now. Fortunately it's one that was not a short deadline.

Sharon, as long as your winter isn't too bad and you can get out there everyday, you'll be jogging to Dairy Queen in no time. grin

Lotus, how was the doctor visit the other day? Thanks for the compliment. kissy
What's the next project after painting.

Haroula, how fun! Glad you have time to visit with your parents still.

Re: Holy Moly It's Sunday - 09/30/12 10:25 PM

A bit of excitement about 5 blocks from us. There is a VFW that was having a charity event. A motorcycle gang, the Warlocks, that are divided into two groups got into a fight. Guns came into play and three people were killed. This is right next door to the ball field were children were taking batting practice. A boyfriend of one of Robert's friends was involved. He didn't shoot anyone, but is in jail. She is very worried. This happened around noon, but it is still all taped off. The police are still interviewing eye witnesses. This VFW is in the middle of a residential community.
