Hump Day - 11/14/12 02:52 AM

"One life - a little gleam of Time between two Eternities."
Thomas Carlyle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following are actual statements found in insurance forms where drivers attempted to summarize the details of an accident in the fewest words.
Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have.
I thought my window was down, but I found out it was up when I put my head through it.
A truck backed through my windshield into my wife's face.
A pedestrian hit me and went under my car.
The guy was all over the road, I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.
I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother- in-law, and headed over the embankment.
I attempted to kill a fly, and I drove into a telephone pole.
I had been driving for forty years, when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident.
I was on my way to the doctor with rear end trouble and my universal joint gave way, causing me to have an accident.
To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front, I struck the pedestrian.
An invisible car come out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.
I told the police that I was not injured, but on removing my hat, found that I had a fractured skull.
The pedestrian had no idea which direction to run, so I ran over him.
I saw a slow-moving, sad-faced old gentleman as he bounced off the hood of my car.
In indirect cause of the accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.
I was thrown from the car as it left the road. I was later found in a ditch by some stray dogs.
The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of its way when it struck my front end.
It was Christmas and the judge was in a benevolent mood as he questioned the prisoner. "What are you charged with?" he asked.
"Doing my Christmas shopping early," replied the defendant.
"That's no offense," replied the judge. "How early were you doing this shopping?"
"Before the store opened," countered the prisoner.
Hi Haroula: still warm temps in Greece? Have a great day.
It's another day with workmen here. Did I tell you we get a photovoltaics system on our roof? We already have two solar panels to get warm water from the sun, now we decided to install a photovoltaics system in addition, to get the energy from the sun. So from the day the system is working (should be by Friday), we will produce our own electricity, and the surplus we will sell to the electric power company.
See you in the evening again. I wish you all a great and productive day.
Hi all, yes Nan, that is the even better part, the selling the power to the power company... lol
Had to supervise the handymen and later I was throwing clay around, so now I'am tired and ripe for the bed. First I'll eat and then I'll sleep. Tomorrow the carrier will bring my work-out device scared and so I have to really start losing weight... yes Will send a pic after it's installed (the crosstrainer).
Wishing you all a happy afternoon and a peaceful evening and for the European ones a good night. Love!
I Zumba'd and just had some lunch and now I will run the dogs in the woods across the street. I hope the coyotes stay away, they creep me out because they stand their ground instead of running away from you.
I'll be back in a bit.
Way to go, Evelyne -you will enjoy your house so much now. It's so sunny here in Texas we should promote solar energy more.
Nice weather today, chilly and sunny. I only this were winter. Kits stretched out in the sun, bees buzzing and the baby narcissis is blooming.
Something funny. I finished the 1st mission of Devil May Cry 1 on normal and the game suggested I switch to easy.....O K whatever.
Nan, take care of Sassy -did vet give a diagnosis? We depend on these pets so much, my cat Greta has dissapeared almost 3 weeks now. I guess she's gone, so sad. Only 3 cats now and 1 doggy. Time to adopt some more.
Happy Wednesday all
Re: Hump Day - 11/14/12 08:42 PM
Hi there Boomers.
Grocery shopping this morning. The sun is shining and it is a pretty nice day. In the 50's.
Hey, I got a question for any of you that can't eat gluten. Can I fix a dish with regular white rice? A friend of Susie's is having surgery on Friday and her husband can't cook, so Susie asked me if I could make a dish that she could give to them. She can't eat gluten. I was thinking of making some kind of rice casserole. Any suggestions?
Well, I need to go do some treadmill.
Have a great day everyone.
Re: Hump Day - 11/14/12 09:12 PM
Bets, rice is gluten free, but a healthier and much tastier choice is brown or black rice.
We made it through a lovely three miles. I know that the dogs chased something that must have been recent because their noses never left the ground but I made them come back before they got into trouble. lol
Nan, I am glad you were able to get out with Sassy today.
Re: Hump Day - 11/15/12 01:38 AM
Thank you Ana, Evelyn, Sue, Gail, Nan for your confidence and well-wishes, not to mention the crossed fingers! lol
I did it, I did it, I did it!!! Made it to all those places - Plus walked down to the Subway and had lunch and then after the Post Office I walked over to the Dairy Queen for desert! smile
You were right Ana, I feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Plus I was entertained. While I was sitting on a bench outside the Dairy Queen I saw someone try to park and hit the gas instead of the brake. They went up over the parking curb and down into the ditch. Not really funny, but no one was hurt and the car looked so funny with it's back end stuck straight up! I don't think the car was really damaged, though the radiator must have been scraped and I don't know about the front end. They were talking about having a flat bed truck pull it out of there. There were state troopers talking to them when I left. As I said I couldn't have laughed if anyone had been hurt or upset, but everyone was okay and she was driving really slow so not much damage done.
Came home and felt exhausted so went in for a refreshing nap. Feel much better now. Dr.said some good things and is very supportive and takes a very positive approach. I have high hopes that everything is going to be okay.
My next goal for walking is... The Library. I know it can be done. yes
Re: Hump Day - 11/15/12 01:54 AM
Oh Yankee, so sorry about Greta the cat. Hope she's just off somewhere having a tryst with some hunky male cat. If she's not spayed, maybe she had kittens and is waiting to bring them home. Cats do that to protect the little ones from other cats. I'll keep some good thoughts for you and her.
It's been a hectic day for me. Don't know why. Just seem to be running from here to there and then the phone rings just as I walk in the door and friends want to chat about nothing. Ugh. AND my yard boy, who is finally out of jail, actually came over today (just like he promised) to take out all my yard waste cans that he filled yesterday. Wow. I now have 7 cans of yard waste and 2 cans of recycle and regular trash out front. Takes up a huge area. Hopefully some person from those Apartments won't MOVE my cans like they did last week to fit their car in. I carefully spaced them as directed by the Trash company (2 feet between) and it's a loooong line. I'm watching on my security camera monitor to see if anyone tries to scrunch them together. They had better not. I will be out there and politely yell at them to keep their hands off my can. rotfl
Re: Hump Day - 11/15/12 02:50 AM
Keeping ones hands off other's cans is always a good idea.
Sharon, woohoo on the walking. Keep it up!
Re: Hump Day - 11/15/12 03:48 AM
I am heading back to the corner tomorrow so I quick went to the store and bought groceries and have been in the kitchen making a huge stock pot of chicken soup and navy bean soup. The family can't complain that there is nothing to eat. lol
I finished the chicken already but now I need to get the ham off the bones. Then I can relax. yay
Sharon, I am so proud of you! I knew you could do it. And with your "can do" attitude, I know you can make it to the library! When I ride my bike, I deliberately head 20 or more miles in one direction because I know I have no choice but to turn around and go back the same distance. I would never go as far if there was an easy out. lol
be back...
