Was Sent This Today And Thought You Might Like It.

It's the day before Christmas
And all through the house
The puppies are squeaking
An old rubber mouse.

The wreath which had merrily
Hung on the door
Is scattered in pieces
All over the floor.

The stockings that hung
In a neat little row
Now boast a hole in
Each one of the toes.

The tree was subjected
To bright-eyed whims,
And now, although splendid,
Is missing some limbs.

I catch them and hold them.
"Be good", I insist.
They lick me, then run off
To see what they've missed.

And now as I watch them
The thought comes to me,
That theirs is the spirit
That Christmas should be.

Should children and puppies
Yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy
That should come with this day?

Could they bring the message
That's written above,
And tell us that, most of all
Christmas is love.

Pets can do that. Once we had a coal-black girl kitty who the children named "Tarpit". And T'pit demolished the Christmas tree and ornements for 2 years. One morning I came downstairs and she was at the top of tree molesting the angel and cat and all just tipped over. So the 3rd year we had an artificial tree -Ha Ha Pit lets see you chew this one up. Well, she didn't instead she bent the tree trunk, you know the up and down one. So we kept that tree for years, long after she arrived at Rainbow Bridge.

Ilove it Mad. Thanks for sharing. We had a Borzoi that brought the whole tree down in the middle of the night. It hit the fireplace, needless to say we were cleaning up glass that night.

Lotus, at one time I had 5 Borzoi. I was friends with a couple who bred and showed Borzoi. When they found or heard of one with problems that needed a good home they would call us. Of course once we saw them they had to come home with us. I miss my Borzois now.
