Seal Cam - 03/01/13 11:59 AM

For those of you who have been asking about the Children's Pool Seal Cam here in San Diego, here is the address:

Page will come up and you click on the little box half way down on the right to bring up the full screen camera.

It's pupping season and the females are giving birth all over the place. Last night I got to see a live birth on the cam. The cam operators (in the lifeguard tower) zoomed in on the mommy so everyone watching could see the entire process. Awesome!

Fun to watch the seals. Fun to watch the babies. Fun to watch the humans. Might even get to see the Ranger and the local Police cautioning people about 'seal rules'. Lots of controversy about the use of this beach. I stay out of it and just enjoy the seals.

Never a dull moment at the seal pool. It's especially neat when the tide is out and the seals are all swimming and playing in the water. Loving it.

Funny Ana. Actually I get scared when I see the baby seals being washed in and out. Sometimes the adults like to let themselves be rolled in the surf. I guess they do it for fun.

Today the 'protesters' are back. They seem to like weekends. Sit on the 'wrong' side of the rope and quietly make their point. Fun thing is that when they do that with their beach umbrellas and stuff that the 'tourists' seem to think it's fine to get very close to the seals and then the Ranger and Police have to step in and caution them. Sometimes a whole 'herd' of people will approach the seals. Monkey see...monkey do. Such a grand drama playing out. zombie
