Driving Styles
Depending on where someone is from and where they are driving you can make some assumptions about their driving styles and etiquette...

Chicago: One hand on wheel, one hand on horn.

New York: One hand on wheel, one finger out window.

New Jersey: One hand on wheel, one finger out window, cutting across all lanes of traffic.

Boston: One hand on wheel, one hand on newspaper, foot solidly on accelerator.

Scarborough, Ontario: Both hands clenched on steering wheel, driver staring directly forward, cutting in front of you and slowing down to 40 in a 60 zone then looking in rearview mirror in wonder as to why the car behind is flashing high beams.

Los Angeles: One hand on wheel, one hand on nonfat double decaf cappuccino, cradling cell phone, brick on accelerator with gun in lap

Ohio, but driving in California: Both hands on wheel, eyes shut, both feet on brake, quivering in terror.

Italy: Both hands in air and gesturing, both feet on accelerator, head turned to talk to someone in back seat.

Seattle: One hand on latte, one knee on wheel, cradling cell phone, foot on brake, mind on game.

Texas: One hand on wheel, one hand on hunting rifle, alternating between both feet being on the accelerator and both feet on the brake, throwing a McDonald's bag out the window.

West Virginia: Four-wheel drive pickup truck, shotgun mounted in rear window, beer cans on floor, squirrel tails attached to antenna.

Florida: Two hands gripping wheel, blue hair barely visible above window level, driving 35 on the Interstate in the left lane with the left blinker on.

Edmonton: One gloved hand on wheel, one hand on heater, feet up underneath bum to keep warm, 3 differently decorated ice scrapers, one plastic, broken; one steel, broken; one pastel, hidden in trunk. neither foot on accelerator or brakes because with all the ice on the roads, you're all moving at the same speed either way.

Dubuque, Iowa: no use of turn signal, or left on for 26 blocks...also cradling cheap cell phone.

Maine: Beat up 1983 Dodge Ram pick-up truck, right hand holding a Dunkin Donuts coffee, cigarette dangling from mouth, greasy hair shoved underneath an oil stained cap and classic rock blaring from the radio.

Pennsylvania: Both hands on reigns.

California: (Bay Area / Silicon Valley) One hand on laptop computer, one hand at on-board navigation/Internet console installed in dash board, cell phone attached to head with microphone earpiece, having a executive meeting with half a dozen people on speaker phone, palm pilot wedged between knees to observe up to date stock quotes, and shoes kicked off, and feet crossed because traffic hasn't moved in the past hour.

Montana: One finger on steering wheel of jacked up 4x4, Charlie Daniels blaring from speakers, dead coyote in back, hay leaves blowing out of bed while going down the highway.

Nebraska: Two hands on wheel, with head lodged up behind, chunks of rust falling off by the pound.

Quebec: engaged in heated political discussion with espresso in one hand and croissant in the other, aiming for pedestrians who have the mistaken notion that crosswalks are for them.

Michigan: Both hands on wheel and head up behind.

Toronto: Both hands on the wheel, seat as far forward as possible, head fixed only looking forward, ignoring people behind and beside you, stopping and waiting for the road to fully clear before making any forward progress.

Los Angeles: Lowered Honda, can't see over dash, driving too fast or too slow, car sounds like a bee as it goes by.

Good morning. We're getting a lot of rain for the next 2 or 3 days. It'll turn into a rain/snow mix on and off. Ana it looks like you'll be getting a huge amount of snow. Wow! Back to winter for some. Stay safe everyone. Morning Joe. Thanks for opening for us. Nan thanks so much for the BB pancakes. I've missed having them for breakfast, yummmm. Morning Haroula, Sue, Gerry, and all who follow me in. I have a doctor's appointment this morning to find out what the heck is going on with my nose and sinuses.

Have a great day all. I have today off. I was supposed to go see my Mom today but with all the bad weather I'll try and make it next week. Thinking about my BIL this morning. I hope the doctors there don't find cancer. My heart is hurting for him. sad

Good Morning Boomers

Joe, thanks for the laughs.

Haroula, sounds like a housework day is ahead for you.

Cailyn, thanks for the coffee.

Gerry, have a nice day!

Midgie, my area is in for maybe a foot of that white stuff with high winds. I thought winter was over. Good luck at the docs.

Connie, Enjoy whatever you decide to do today.

Off to Rad. Be back later. Storm coming in tonight. Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Joe, looks like your forehead managed to find the Submit button. lol Hope you got a good night's sleep.

Glad you had fun, Haroula. thumbsup

Have a great day, too, Cailyn.

A fantastic day to you as well, Gerry.

Hope your BIL's appointment goes well, Midge!!

Hope you find something fun to do today, Connie.

Hope the storm isn't too bad for you, Gail! We were supposed to get a lot of snow here, too, but I haven't seen any yet.

I'm off today. We were supposed to have several feet of snow, but so far, we haven't gotten anything. I have to say, I'm disappointed. wink Since it's my day off, it would have been nice to have some pretty snow to look at from my window while I played my game(s). The timing would have been perfect. Plus, we've hardly had any snow at all this winter, even though it's been cold. Oh, well, I suppose this gray and dreary day goes well, with Still Life, so maybe I'll play that one. grin

Hope everyone has a terrific Wednesday. cat

Re: Hump Day - 03/06/13 05:55 PM

LOVE the driving jokes, Joe! Trying to decide which state I should move to for my driving style. rotfl

Road work should be done today so the signs say. I hear light motor something working. Street is sanded over new blacktop but open to traffic. No idea if they will actually be done, but I doubt all the 'little' things are finished. AND there are those rainwater drains which have yet to be 'activated'. A crew from the selling company has to come by with all sorts of 'fill' to make an ecofriendly filter and then plant a tree in each one. Lucky if those trees survive a few months since ours are broken, dying, and some have been replaced. Dunno. Small, flowering, trees that you have to detour out of the way on the sidewalk to avoid being whacked in the head. Nice planning!

Beautiful day here. They say it's gonna rain about 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches here. Ummmmm. Not from what I see. Must be a 'stealth' storm.

Off to count cats. All mine are here, and the new interlopers seem to be settling into their yard 'territory'. Very interesting to watch. Still keeping my eye on those guys and hoping that my ferals will take them under their guidance. If so, I'll just ask the neighbor to help out on the food bill. I'm sure he has no idea that putting food out for 'his' cats, will encourage the raccoons and possums to eat it all up every night. Yup. Lots to learn, not to mention ANTS. Tricky system keeping ants off the food dishes. I've perfected it without endangering the kitties with massive sprays. Oh well...off to the war.

Wonderful Wednesday ya'll puppy

It is sunny but chilly out there today. I sadly have to go back to the dentist...eek...eeek...and triple eeeeeeek! Going to the dentist always makes me sick, so will most likely come home and go directly to bed. But maybe not! I was thinking of taking a hammer with me so they could bonk me on the head and put me out, then wake me when they are all done.

I have synced my book and my audiobook so I can try to distract myself...yea, that's gonna work. rotfl wave

Back from Dr's appointment. I do have a sinus infection after all. She put me on an antibiotic. It should clear up in a couple of days. I'm also using Simply Saline. It's a nasal spray. It helps. My nose isn't quite so dry. Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts. I'm waiting to hear from BIL to find out anything new. Boy with my DIL's Dad and now my BIL, both fighting cancer it brings it all back when my hubby was fight for his life with lung cancer. Scary.

Yes, quite odd as nobody but Soot ever touches his computer.

He has done a lot to it, but has headed up to bed, and I'm going up as soon as my kindle finishes it's firmware update.

We got ten inches Joe, we are still very buried. We had about 5 from before still. I can't run Merlin until it goes down a bit because his hips are hurting just romping through the yard. I had to shovel out spots on the grass. sad At least it's pretty to look at. yay

midgiekins ,glad you had a nice day off.

L4l ,that's always the pits when the electronics act up.

joe , glad you enjoyed your day, also.

ana, poor merlin,he seems to be having a hard time of it lately. they just want to please us ,even though they should cut back some.

hope everyone is having a great day otherwise.

I've been tearing my hair out trying to place an order with Amazon for some art supplies, and half of them can't be shipped to my address. which means i'll have to order from 4 different places - gaaahhh!
The customer service rep i just talked to doesn't even know why i can get blue pens ,but not orange ones .
just another of life's many mysteries , I guess. lol

well , getting close to quittin' time here according to my cohort in cardboard ,lol.

see you all later
