Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day there were three surgeons who were arguing loudly over who was the best surgeon.
"Oh yeah," the first one yells. "One day there was this guy who came in with all his fingers cut off, I sewed them back onto his hand, and he's playing piano for the queen of England!"
"Oh, that's nothing," shouts the second one. "One day this guy came in with his arms and legs cut off, I sewed back onto his body, and now he's on the Olympic track and swimming teams!"
"Oh, that isn't jack compared to what I'VE done," bellows the third one. "One day there was this guy who was riding a horse, on cocaine, got hit by a subway train, and all that was left was the guy's body and the horse's behind, I sewed them together, and now he's the President of The United States!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Three old men are at the doctor for a memory test.
The doctor says to the first old man, "What is three times three?"
"274" was his reply.
The doctor worriedly says to the second man, "It's your turn. What is three times three?"
"Tuesday" replies the second man.
The doctor sadly says to the third man, "Okay, your turn. What's three times three"?
"Nine" says the third man.
"That's great!" exclaims the doctor. "How did you get that"?
"Jeez, Doc, it's pretty simple," says the third man. "I just subtracted 274 from Tuesday."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soon after our last child left home for college, my husband was resting next to me on the couch with his head in my lap.
I carefully removed his glasses. "You know, honey," I said sweetly, "Without your glasses you look like the same handsome young man I married."
"Honey," he replied with a grin, "Without my glasses, you still look pretty good, too!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A doctor tells his old patient: "Mr. Jones, the last check you gave me came back".
The patient answers: "Then we are even, Doc. So did my arthritis"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Irish guy goes into a bar in America and asks for three separate shots of Whiskey. He drinks one, waits a little bit, then drinks the second one, waits a little bit more, and then drinks the third one. This goes on for a few days, and finally the bartender tells him: "You know sir, I can put all three shots in one glass for you".
The guy replies "No, I prefer it this way. You see, I'm very close to my two brothers. They are both still in Ireland, and this represents a drink for each of us. When I drink like this, I feel like we are drinking together again, all three of us".
This goes on for several months, and then one day the guy walks into the pub and asks for only two shots.
The bartender is worried that maybe something happened to one of his brothers.
"Is everythink OK"? he asks.
"What do you mean", answers the guy.
"Well, for months you have been asking for three shots. now you order two. Did something happen to one of your brothers?", the bartender asks.
"No", replies the Irish guy, "No No they're fine. It's just that I gave up drinking".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A guy walks into a bar and shouts, "When I drink, everybody drinks!". Everybody is cheering him and applauding like crazy.
Feeling great, he finishes his beer, asks for another one and shouts, "When I drink again, everybody drinks again!". Once again, everybody is cheering him, he is the hero of the bar.
When he is done drinking, he pulls out his wallet and shouts, "When I pay, everybody pays!".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A guy goes into a bar. He orders a beer, and after a while he needs to go to the toilet. Because he is afriad someone will drink his beer, he puts a small note on it that says: "I spit in this beer, do not drink!".
After a few minutes he returns, and there is another note on the beer, saying "So did I!".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Two men arrive at the Pearly Gates at about the same time, both wanting to know if they will be admitted to heaven. St. Peter asks the first man his name, where he is from, and what he did in life.

The man answers that he is John Smith and that he was a taxi driver in New York City.

St. Peter looks through his book, then gives the man a luxurious silken robe and a golden staff, and bids him welcome into heaven for his eternal reward.

St. Peter then asks the second man the same questions. He replies that his name is Thomas O'Malley, and that he was a Catholic priest in Chicago. St. Peter looks in his book, then gives him a cotton robe and a wooden staff, and bids him to enter into heaven for his eternal reward.

Father O'Malley says, Wait a minute! Why did that taxi driver get a silken robe and golden staff while I, a Catholic Priest and a man of God, got a cotton robe and wooden staff?

St. Peter told him that the rewards in heaven are based on results, and while Father O'Malley preached, people slept, but while John Smith drove, people prayed!

Super Saturday ya'll puppy

Hubby and I will be going out to do errands when he gets back from town. After that I'm going to clean out my recipe box and do some organizing so I can find what I want easily. Hubby has been burning the candle at both ends for several weeks now, so the rest of the weekend will be spent doing as little as possible wave

Re: Saturdiner - 06/29/13 03:25 PM

Hi, everyone. wave wave I'm back from a long hiatus. Sorry I've been gone so long. It's been getting harder and harder to post in the mornings, even for a quick hello and goodbye, as I'm always in such a rush for work. I haven't even been turning my computer on, as it's too distracting. lol I'm going to try to improve on that, as I really miss coming here. sad

As for now, I'm going to try and catch up on some of what I've missed out on. Looks like there's a new list, so I'm going to have to check that out. grin

And now, I wish everyone here a fantastic Saturday, and hope to see you again tomorrow. wave

Re: Saturdiner - 06/29/13 04:24 PM

Hi, L4L. wave Work is fine, if a bit hectic. My manager apparently stopped by when I wasn't there and said everything looked really good, so I take that as a good sign. grin Hope you and hubby get a chance to relax after all the hectic activity!

Have a great day, Space Quest.

Hi, Nan. wave Well, knowing that person as I do, I think it's best just to avoid her. lol I tried being nice to her, but unfortunately, she's one of those people who feels it's her business to say negative things no matter what. There are two problems with this. One problem, the main problem, is that she no longer works in that department, so it's none of her business anyway (and my manager luckily also holds this opinion). And secondly, of course things are going to be a mess on the days I'm not there because entropy (in the form of customers lol) will inevitably set in. And everything else she says is just blatantly wrong. So I've just been doing my job 110% as I always have been, and making sure to get the store manager to sign my documents every day, so I keep a record of everything I've been doing. smile How has everything been with you? Hope you find something fun to do today. grin

Re: Saturdiner - 06/29/13 05:12 PM

Happy Saturday to all. Just in case you have seen the weather reports for my area and you are aghast at the high temps (triple digits) don't worry. MY little corner of this place is staying in the mid to high 70's. Hasn't gone over 79 for the entire week of 'heat wave'. Very pleasant, too nice actually. Being only a mile or so from the beach gives us some cool mornings and evenings and then a slight foggy mist that is keeping us cool. Maybe later in the week we will suffer just like everyone else but so far, I'm loving this.

Strange noises all night. Dunno from what. Lots of people moving in and out around here since it's summer and that's a big move time. Then at 2:30 am, heard voices and saw two ladies, girls? walking down the sidewalk. Wonder what they were doing out at that hour? Weird.

Off to enjoy the weather while I can.

Re: Saturdiner - 06/29/13 06:49 PM

Hi Sorta, 80 is ideal isn't it. We have 80 at night and triples during the day but you get kinda used to it. I have 2 window AC's -one on the PS3 and the other on the PC and PS2. However in the hot afternoons my kits are all camped out against them. Well they are comfy anyway.

Way in the back of the refrigerator I discovered a 1/2 gal of promised land chocolate milk -whole milk with the fat in it- that stuff's a killer. So that's my mainstay for today.

The yard is drying up will get out the sprinklers. Austin is on stage 2 water restriction. That means watering only once a week but I don't know what ours is. No one would know anyway -way out here in the woods. My pasture ponds have dried up so I must start putting water out for my wildlife.

Bye for now

Re: Saturdiner - 06/29/13 09:45 PM

Well venus, at least you don't have to work with her. lol Sounds like you have a nice working plan though!!

Sorta that 80 is too hot for me. lol 70 is better. Enjoy the nice weather. We are at a nice, shorts and t-shirt, 67 right now.

Yankee do you have well water??? How can they restrick that?? lol

Took another nice walk with Sassy and found some 4-leaf clovers! happydance Now to relax in the A/C and do a little gaming.

Re: Saturdiner - 06/30/13 01:47 AM

Well, errands were somewhat of a success. We arrived home in the middle of a horrible storm and made a dash to the house, leaving most of the packages in the car.

We saw a beautiful Jacuzzi for only $5,000.00. It's probably a good thing I don't have room for one, and can't afford one if I had the room. I can hear the conversation now. Kid: "Where's mom?" Hubby: "In the jacuzzi." Kid: "Tell her to call me when she gets out." Hubby: "Don't wait around. She never gets out."

Dinner took longer than I expected (forgot I needed to remove the collard stems). Since we had bought chopped collards, that meant I had to pick up every piece to pick out the stem.

But, it was yummy. Dogs are fed, kitchen is clean (I started it and hubby finished while I relaxed my back in the tub) and now hubby and I are going to watch a movie I think. There may even be some ice cream in my future. wave
