Monday Mourning - 10/13/14 03:42 AM

My whole career can be summed up with 'Ignorance is bliss.' When you do not know better, you do not really worry about failing.

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town and went into a shop. We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and said, "Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?"
He ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi turd. He glared at me and started Writing another ticket for having worn tires. So my wife called him a ****-head. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, we didn't care. We came into town by bus.

Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee in St. Peters Square.
The first Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him 'Father'."
The second Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Grace'."
The third Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal. When he enters a room everyone bows their head and says 'Your Eminence'."
The fourth Catholic man says very proudly, "My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Holiness'."
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, "Well .........?"
She proudly replies, "I have a daughter, slim, tall, 38" DD bust, 24" waist and 34" hips.
When she walks into a room, everybody says, "Oh My God."

"Hymns we have never sung before"... Oh Joe! You would have loved a young pastor we hired fresh out of seminary. He came into our OLD established church with loads of NEW ideas to share. One was that he took our favorite hymnal, threw it out, got a new one, and each Sunday, we would sing 3 songs, starting at number ONE, then two , then three. Next Sunday, four, five, six. You can guess the reaction of the congregation as this progressed with stuff we had never heard, hymns that were really impossible, and some that were just plain bad. I can't remember how long we were tortured, but eventually he got the idea when he ended up singing ALONE. Yup, we staged a protest (after trying to let him know this wasn't working). Poor guy. Back to the good old standards, with maybe one new one thrown in occasionally. Ahhhhhh.

Overcast, cool, promises of HOT.

Penelope the Peacock did her 'thing' Saturday. She has taken to perching on the iron railing of my neighbor's porch and looking out at the road. So Saturday, the neighbor had Cox Cable come to install some stuff and the guy walked up the sidewalk, and started across the front of the house BEFORE he looked up and came face to beak with Penelope! I was watching on my security camera and it was awesome! He jumped back, Penelope started honking, and jumped down and ran (annoyingly strutted) around the dividing fence, up my driveway and into my back deck. She was all fluffed out. Neck feathers at right angles, back feathers up, tail feathers almost fanned. Wow. That was a fun time for all. Guess Cox didn't figure that the job involved a Peacock. I wonder if he put in for hazardous duty pay? rotfl woot

Hi Boomies. I'm home, just waiting for the Comcast tech to come and hook up my 48" flat screen TV. I really hope I don't have to wait for 2 hours.
Sorta I would love to have seen Penelope go after the cable guy. That's funny.

Ana how's your new grandbaby doing? And how's Sam doing?

Re: Monday Mourning - 10/14/14 01:21 AM

I spent most of my day searching for and installing yet ANOTHER security camera. Yes, I'm obsessive. Actually this one came to me as I lay in bed watching my critter cam and driveway cam. I only had the intersection (empty house, neighbors, etc. on the living room TV. So I went to 3 Wally Marts before I found one that had the same model I already had and liked. 2 had them listed on the shelf but none in stock. So I got lucky on #3. I also checked Best Buy which had what I wanted for twice (not kidding) the price of WalMart. Wow.

Installed it, lots of up ladders and climbing on step stools, and strap tying along the roof line and all that good stuff that requires stretching and dangerous ladder angles. Finally got it all done and the picture is awesome! Perfect view of everything I wanted. Now to wait for dark and see how the night vision goes with this position. Hope it's good.

Penelope is getting aggressive. She wanted some food, but I couldn't figure out what. She followed me around the deck, pecking at various offerings but nothing seemed to spark her interest. She finally went over to the water dish and enjoyed a cool drink. Guess she's right at home here (and probably in several other yards). At least she knows the routine. Or is it that she taught ME the routine?
