Thump Day - 05/28/15 05:19 AM

At what age do you think it’s appropriate to tell a highway it’s adopted?
—Zach Galifianakis
`````````````````````````
Planedemonium
The first time my mother flew, she was a nervous wreck. During takeoff, the roar from the engines proved
reassuring—it meant they were working, she reasoned. But when the plane leveled off, so did the engines. Grabbing the armrests, she asked aloud, “Did we stop?”
````````````````````````

For My Next Impression…

I’m now in high school, so when I ran into my third-grade teacher, I doubted she would remember me.
“Hi, Miss Butcher,” I said.
“Hi, Eddie,” she replied.
“So you do remember me?” I asked.
“Sure. You don’t always leave a good impression, but it is a lasting one.”

```````````````````````````
Believe Me, I Would if I Could.
My three-year-old sat in the bathroom with me, watching as I
removed my dentures and brushed them. After a few minutes, he asked, “Can you take your ears off too?”
```````````````````````````````

The Scale of The Situation

We were stocking up on
green beans at the farmers’ market when we asked the young girl
helping us for 15 pounds’ worth.
“I can only sell you ten pounds of beans,” she said.
“Why?” I asked.
“Because my scale only goes up to ten pounds.”

``````````````````
That’s Not How it Works, Dad.
Dad rarely dresses up, so when he left the bedroom decked out in a suit and tie, he wanted to commemorate the moment. Handing me a camera, he asked, “Mind taking a selfie of me?”
`````````````````````````

Our Office Needs a 3D Printer

Our boss asked the new mail-room guy to make three copies of
an office key. The guy returned ten minutes later with the copies … which he’d made on the Xerox machine.

`````````````````````````
Shane. My Office. Now.
Shane works in the deli department of a large supermarket chain, where he often finds himself in trouble. Just look at the notes management has supposedly written to him:
“Shane, stop putting Some
Assembly Required stickers on
the eight-piece chickens.”
“Shane, any free samples you
give must come from the deli, not electronics.”
“Shane, when a customer asks where to find a product, give them an aisle number, not directions to
Albertsons.”
````````````````````````

Head to the Dentist

I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when my squad leader barged in. He was holding a toothbrush, which he proceeded to use to scrub underneath the rim of a toilet.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Hazing the new guy,” he said with a grin.
“You do know that he could get ill from the bacteria on the toilet.”
His reply was quick and to the point: “You didn’t.”

````````````````````````````
Put-Downs Down Under
A Briton flies into Australia
and is asked by the immigration
officer, “Do you have any felony
convictions?”
The Briton replies, “Sorry. I didn’t realize that was still a requirement.”
``````````````````````````

G-d Hates B.S.

Before beginning the service, our pastor read aloud a note he’d been handed moments earlier. “It says here that I should announce that there will be no B.S. tomorrow morning,” he said. He tucked the piece of paper into a pocket and added, “I’m hoping they mean ‘Bible Study.’”

``````````````````````````
More Idiotic Job Applicant Blunders
We’ve been over this before:
Stupid doesn’t play well on job interviews. Hiring managers wish these
job seekers had gotten the memo.
• Applicant acted out a Star Trek role.
• Applicant asked for a hug.
• Applicant popped out his teeth when discussing dental benefits.
• Applicant crashed her car into
the building.
Pretty good weather today and tomorrow -welcome the change. I'm waiting for my ride to Dallas. I know I shouldn't worry about my cats but I do. It's only 2 days and a night and I'll leave the back door opened a bit and there's plenty of dry fancy feast around. Also the same for my opossums.
Joe, be careful. In Houston a casket washed up onto a bicycle path and a bike rider approached it and called police who came and opened it and yup there was the body. It's at the coroner's now
Thumping Good Thursday ya'll puppy
My net, cable tv, and phone went down yesterday and stayed down alllllllllllllll day. So frustrating! Seems to be working for the moment, so I'm going to say "Thank you, Jesus" and go with it.
The doggies and I challenged the hills and won first thing this morning. Once home, I got dinner in the crock pot, made slaw to go with it (needs to chill), hung out with Cully, fed dogs (Cully helped with this and the slaw), cleaned the kitchen, fed Cully and myself, and now, finally, am sitting and actually sipping a cuppa. I'll be back in the kitchen in a bit making the smoothie that I prepped this morning.
Son is sidelined with a migraine. I would grab the kids and go to the park so he could rest, but thunderstorms are coming.
Joe, major creek changes I see. Hopefully, that uncovered many many points for you.
Haroula, wave
Midgy, is the clinic helping you at all?
Gail, how was the walking and the shopping?
Ana, sounds like you have a plan thumbsup
Darlene, happy skooshing!
Yankee, enjoy every minute. The nice thing about cats is they do fine for a day as long as there is access to food, water, and shelter.
Nan, sorry your trip was canceled.
Re: Thump Day - 05/29/15 01:56 AM
Yuk Yankee! Caskets washing up around the area? Scary.
As for me, it was a long, not so good day for the family and apartment complex and everyone driving past that area 10 blocks from me. At 8 am, a guy living in a large NICE apartment/condo complex, walked up to his neighbor's car and shot him dead as he sat there. Then started the entire day of all police agencies and SWAT and evacuations and people sheltering in place before the evacuations of about 55 people. Not to mention ALL the drivers and school kids who couldn't get home or around that area. That street is a MAIN route from freeway, through our town, and to the other freeway. Ugh.
Was a bad day all around. It ended just now with the guy letting his wife and kids go (he had them hostage) and then he refused to communicate with the police, one gunshot heard and after an hour they sent the robot in and found the murder suspect dead in his bedroom. So sad sad sad. They know from neighbors possibly WHY this all happened but I won't go into that except to say it was constant interactions with the neighbor who got shot about the guy's looks.
So now we have 2 wives and 4 young kids (8 and under) who are without their Dads and all because some people can't stop pointing out the differences in people. Makes me just so mad. mad
