strongeoff pot pie question

the recipe calls for 2 cups of water, but when i made it it look like soup did they do a misprint.

A lot of times I find myself tweaking a recipe because they are faulty. It's possible. Can you add some thickening agent to it to make it thicker?

we boil it off til it fit the pie pan.
