Dinner is at my house Doc.

I just do the basics, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. I stopped making anything else because it's all they want. lol

How is your mom? will you be having dinner at home?

Home here too, Doc. It's usually just me, hubby and a 14 lb turkey! We have daughters-in-law and they normally they go to their parent's homes. But we really, really like our little Thanksgiving dinner together with just the two of us.

Like Ana, I just do the basics. However, I always have to make a small casserole of Brussels sprouts with pancetta just for me.

I'll also probably work a couple of hours down at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in the morning cleaning stalls. There are no volunteers on holidays (except for me!), so I like to run down and help get the basics done in the morning.

How thoughtful you are Draclvr. Hubby and I have decided to stay home this year for Thanksgiving. It will be turkey and the basics here too and, if the weather permits, a nice long walk! turkey fall

When I was a kid up in NW Iowa, there was always tons of snow on the ground by Thanksgiving. I would go pheasant hunting with my cousins in the empty cornfields. Now THAT was a walk in the cold, Kaki's Sister!

We'll be at home with son and g'sons. I'll cook for days before, though since son is working and won't be able to help, I'll cook less than last year. The g'sons really look forward to it and know the rule...Since I cook (and therefore clean the kitchen) for days before, once dinner is done, the men and boys clean up the mess and everyone is responsible for reheating and cleaning up after themself for the next several days. lol

When daughter lived here we got out the good china, good silverware, good glasses, fancy serving stuff, etc which all had to be washed by hand. Now we default to as much disposable stuff as we can so the cleaning phase is much easier.

Gotta plan it all next week.

Last year, we went out and it just wasn't the same. The husband asked about going somewhere else and I told him, I wasn't too thrilled last year, so he's gonna make Thanksgiving at home. wave

PS. Told him a reg Thanksgiving, no weird seasonings etc.

My good buddy/friend/tenant and I will do the usual Thanksgiving routine. We find a restaurant open on the day and go for a good turkey meal. It's usually Black Angus, because all the 'mom and pop' places are out of business or closed. Saves us the time and energy of all that prep and cooking. He hates turkey, I like it once a year so it works well for us. turkey

We're going to my brother's place this year. He's a great cook and usually makes my favorite, homemade tomato soup. If you've never had it, try it sometime. It's one of life's little pleasures on a chilly evening. That is if you like tomatoes. grin

I'll also grill a turkey breast, sweet potatoes and make some pecan dressing so we have our own "feast" here the weekend after. thumbsup
