IRS Lawsuit Scam - 06/07/16 04:49 PM

While I was at Walmart shopping this morning, I received a message on my phone. It was a recorded message in a woman's voice telling me that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me, and that I need to return the phone call as soon as I receive the message. scared

Well, as soon as I got home, I got on my computer and looked up the area code (206) to see where it is located. The call came from Washington.......STATE.

Then I looked up information on IRS email and phone scams, and found THIS and THIS , among many. mad

I have not called the number back, and probably won't. I just wanted to warn everyone about these scams. I'd hate to see someone here get taken for their savings. shame

We got one of those phone calls about a year ago. Just awful. Our call came from Washington State, too. mad

Glad you were smart and didn't act on it!

Smart not to call them back. My friend DID. She panicked and almost told them all her information! Thank goodness she called me after not doing that. I advised her of the scam.

I still get those recordings about every 2 weeks and I get a LIVE person about once a month. Total waste of my time answering the phone. I don't give out any information over the phone unless I called THEM.

I am always amazed how the 'solar' companies ask for information like, how long have you owned your house, how big is your property, what is your current mortgage and who is it with. Geez! Like I'm really going to tell a stranger? And my favorite? The burglar alarm company who asks me, "Do you have an alarm system on your house?. "What company is it with?". "Do you record the action around the house?" Again, Why in the heck would I tell someone how protected, or not, my house is? Terrible, but I could see my dear departed Mom, or my sister doing just that. There are a load of innocents in the world that these people prey on.

Hopefully I won't get any more calls from IRS, and if anyone else does, just hang up.
