TGIF - 12/02/16 12:53 AM

To teach is to learn twice.

JOSEPH JOUBERT

That's good because it usually takes me a couple of times before it sticks.

Who would have thought the economy would get this bad...

CEO's are now playing miniature golf.

Jewish women are marrying for love.

Even people who have nothing to do with the Obama administration aren't paying their taxes.

Hotwheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

Trump met with small businesses to discuss the Stimulus Package: GE, Pfizer and Citigroup.

McDonalds is selling the 1/4 ouncer.

Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.

A truckload of Americans got caught sneaking into Mexico.

The most highly-paid job is now jury duty.

People in Africa are donating money to Americans.

Motel Six won't leave the light on.

The Mafia is laying off judges.

And finally...

Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh great... the guy who made $50 billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $750 billion disappear.

Email Forward

A great email to forward to friends...

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'

'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.

'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.

'Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'

The man gestured, and the gate began to open. 'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'

'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'

'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.

'There should be a bowl by the pump,' said the man.

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree. 'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.

'This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said.

'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell.'

'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'

'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Soooo. Now you see. Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding stuff to us without writing a word. Maybe this will explain it.

When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do? You forward emails.

When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep contact, you forward jokes.

When you have something to say, but don't know what, and don't know how - you forward stuff.

A 'forward' lets you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still cared for.

So, next time if you get a 'forward', don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today, and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile.

You are welcome at my water bowl anytime!

Good morning everyboomie. wave12

I had a really good day today.

Just like one of my days last week. Can't dismember which one it was. duh12

It was like 30 something degrees when I got up this morning, That also happens to be my fantasy age. grin12

I've always wanted to be 30 something degrees again. grinch

I did my 7 minute workout this morning. That took my age up to at least 102 degrees. razz12

I may need to cut back to 3 1/2 minutes just until my heart rate goes back down to normal. frown12

That may take a week or two. wink12

On the bright side as long as my heart is trying to burst through my chest, I know I'm still alive. joy

I'm getting ready for the Cowboy game, soooooo, have a happy day everyone.

Re: TGIF - 12/02/16 05:56 PM

Sad news here. After not seeing Miss Penelope Peacock since the day before Thanksgiving, my neighbor and I started asking questions. The roofer guy who lives directly next to where Penelope 'nested' (the compound of strange family) never really said it directly, but did admit he saw a 'large pile of feathers'. Waaaaaaaaa! I wprried they would eventually do that. She probably was Thanksgiving dinner. A few years before she appeared, a turkey was strolling up my driveway and being chased by the oldest son over there who said, "Thanksgiving", as he scooped it up and went home. The also have ducks and chickens and other fowl over there.

I'm so depressed. Poor pretty little bird. Now gone. Who eats peacocks anyway? She could be a pest when she was hungry for bread, or scaring the cats, or pooping all over the deck and roof, but who cares? She was our neighborhood peacock. Everyone stopped by on the street as she made her trip in and out of 4 yards getting her goodies.

Really don't like those people. Always turmoil over there. Sigh....Missing her as are several neighbors who fed her daily on her 'rounds'. RIP Penelope

Re: TGIF - 12/02/16 07:54 PM

sorry to hear that sorta. hey sorta, do they still use those live cams for the seals on that one beach? really miss watching them. well for kansas i think our 70 degrees weather has gone out the window. sure was enjoying that unusual temps for us, but we really need for it to snow for our wheat crops. well hubby and i have become empty nesters again this year, granddaughter moved to live with her sister in newton,ks until that granddaughter got married in july and they moved to oregon. well the granddaughter that lived with us stayed in newton working uuntil the last of oct when she moved in with her boyfriend and his 2 kids. she hasn't gone back to work yet , she really needs to get her DL so she can go to work. son is living with his girlfriend and comes over to help us on the weekends. don't see much of him now since he got a new job and its working nights. so its nice and quiet here, oh wait i forgot its not quiet, those crazy dogs we got sure love to bark at anyone who drives, walks by on the side street. oh well gotta love my dogs

Re: TGIF - 12/02/16 08:02 PM

sad Sorta I can understand if it was a wild turkey, but a peacock? REally? I am so sorry, I get attached to my wildlife too.

Re: TGIF - 12/03/16 12:47 AM

Thanks Ana and my10rugrats for that link to the Raccoons! Awwwww. How cute they are and how good a mom that is. Most babies I've seen with 'my' raccoon is 4 and they are all furry balls of fun. I'm waiting for the new batch now having seen mom here a few times very fat and lying down to eat. Cute. Hope they come back for the winter months.

As for the poor peacock, yeah some people eat them as delicacies. Hate to think of what happened but I guess if you raise all those poultry things that a fat peacock looks like something good to eat. Sigh. Missing her. Took in her feeding dish and donating her feathers to the thrift store. Don't want any reminders. So sad about it all. Wish animal control could have caught her over the last 2 years of trying several times and relocated her to a farm. Darn.

As for the live cams of the seals, they took them down 'temporarily' to do some 'repairs'. Never put it back. I think that the controversy over 'spying' on the sunbathers might have had something to do with it. I really enjoyed watching the seals.

Hi Sorta. I'm so sorry about your peacock. I can't imagine someone killing such a beautiful bird. Hugs.
I'm getting ready to go to work a little later. I've been decorating my apartment this morning. It's hard to change gears. But now I have to. See ya.
