Hello,
Got upgraded to High Definition cable today. It included all new cable boxes and the new voice remote. Just say anything and it takes you there. I am afraid to use it with all I see on Tv now-a-days. I'm afraid everything I say may be recorded! Ha!
By the way for those that don't know, just because you bought a high-definition tv doesn't mean you are getting a high definition picture. High definition is something you have to upgrade to from your cable provider. You can only get high-definition by getting the signal from you cable company and using HDMI cables. Coax or RCA type cables wont do it.

Cox switched over to total HD programming (so they said) and we all had to either buy the BIG box that does all that recording stuff, or several mini-boxes that bring in the HD signal on any TV (even my old 13" VCR/TV combos. Bad thing is that after one year of 'free' boxes, they are now charging almost 3 bucks for each one. Still, ya can't get much without them AND it includes an on-screen program guide so I can see what's on without leaving through my TV guide magazine. I guess I'll keep up with all the new fangled stuff.

I did hear a lot about those 'smart' TV's and people hacking into them and listening to stuff. Don't know if it's true.

We have had HD for awhile and it's nice. Then again we had replaced a huge projection TV that we held onto a few years after it started deteriorating.

It's all a plot to get us to buy new TVs. I like the old ones, just like I like the old (develop at the store) photos. For some reason, the computer printed ones, although they are beautiful, just don't have the 'depth' that I'm used to. I have to reset my mind to the new technology I guess. But I'm not going for the 3-D TV, or the curved screen TV, or the ultimate 4,5,6,7 HD whatever they are selling models. No picture in picture, no split screen, so surround sound, nothing that talks back to me, and all that fancy stuff. I like simple.

I'm kind of with you Sorta. I have a small 22 year old tv on the dresser in my bedroom. None of the new TV's seem small enough and they are all lightweight flat panel. If my cat breathes on them, they'll tip over. I also still use a VCR and new TV's don't seem to want to accept that. Even the stupid box required to use this tv messes up my VCR usage.

My brother recently bought a smart tv because that was pretty much all he could find. The picture looks good but otherwise, so what. He won't use any features on it. And he had to cut holes into his stand to insert the screen to help stabilize it from falling over when the cat watches it.

oldbroad, there is a tiny cable that attaches to the wall to prevent the flat screens from tipping. The cat can't knock it over. We had to install them because of my toddler grandson but it's just a good idea anyway.

No cable with his tv and not close enough to a stable wall. And certainly not a wall near my dresser if I ever have to do that.
