What kind of monitor are you using? LCD? CRT?
If it's an LCD, what is the resolution and refresh rate?
Frequency out of range could mean the game is trying to display at a resolution or refresh rate that is not supported by the monitor. Usually that isn't a problem with CRTs, but it can be with LCDs.

Try changing your monitor's resolution to 800X600. If that doesn't work, then please post your system specs. The system specs can be found in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking start->run->type dxdiag->click ok. If you are running Windows Vista and do not have the "run" command, then type dxdiag in "search".

We need the following information:

Under the System Tab:

1. Operating system
2. Processor model and speed.
3. Amount of memory (RAM)
....then click the Display Tab:
4. Video card brand and model (next to device "Name")
5. The driver version (this will be a series of numbers)

Re: Experience 112 - 02/07/08 12:21 AM

Yes, i did try to change the resolution also. Did not work.

System Specs:
1. XP pro - SP2
2. AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4200+
3. 2 gigs of Ram
4. Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT
5. Driver 169.21

I hoping this does not happen with the game since I pre-ordered it already. Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure, but maybe different drivers would help.
Good thing it's only a demo.

Look in the game folder or in the start menu for a "readme" file. There are usually some solutions in the readme for known issues. This horizontal/vertical sync out of range problem might be listed there.

I would try un-installing and re-installing the demo. Pay close attention while the demo is installing to see if it gives you any options to set the in-game resolution. Also if there is a "V-Sync" option, turn it on. If it's on, try turning it off.

You could also try forcing V-Sync on in the Nvidia Control Panel under "Manage 3D Settings".

Your video drivers are up to date. As Jenny said, it might be helpful to try an older version, though it's probably a longshot.

Here's version 94.24. It's from May of last year.

Thanks, it did not work, so, I'll cross my fingers when I get the game. Although, I did need to roll back my driver anyway, cause my Gametap was not working well with the nvidia latest drivers. thanks for the link.

Re: Experience 112 - 02/08/08 03:16 AM

That's strange. An "out of range" message like that means your monitor does not support the refresh rate or resolution setting the game is trying to use. Do you get the message right when you try to launch the game or does it manage to load up to the main menu? Does the game have a "setup" icon in the XP start menu?

Re: Experience 112 - 02/09/08 08:01 PM

yes, I get the message when I launch the game. This never happened to anygame I've played. When I downloaded the game I only get links for the game, no readme file or setup.

The readme file (if there is one) would have been created when you installed the game. Most game demos have a readme file. If it's not in the start enu (start-->all programs), then look in the game folder and sub folders.

Re: Experience 112 - I Fixed my Problem!!!! - 02/15/08 06:36 AM

I got the game today and still had the same problem,(h/v frequency out of range) for the life of me could not figure it out. So, I did some on-line research and found that it was the Drivers for my monitor that were not installed. I went to Viewsonic and needed to specifically find the driver for my CRT P220f monitor. Once I installed, the game worked perfect!!! Thanks for your time, guidance and help. Forever gameboomer!

you lead me in the right direction, about the drivers, so I looked on-line using the drivers as my main source for the search. Also Robert gave me the link to the older nvidia driver (I was looking for and was not sure which one to use) My gametap was conflicting with the new nvidia drivers and I could not play it. So again, thanks.
