Quick question:
If I buy an external hard drive with a 3.0 USB connection, can I use it with my 2.0 computer USB port?

You should be able to, I have an EHD with 3.0 USB connections and it works on my Laptop which only has 2.0 USB ports.
Just make sure that it states that it is Backwards compatible.

It will work, but only at USB 2.0 speeds. Other than that, you're good to go.
