A "Streaming" question

I'm not sure if this is the forum to post this to, so please move if need be.

I probably should know the answer to this, but I'm a bit behind the curve, so to speak, about iPads:
If I stream a movie, game, etc through my iPad, am I using memory (and storing data) on my iPad?

You're probably buffering data when you stream a video, but I don't think any of it is retained beyond your streaming session. I assume it's similar to watching a video on a PC.
