n 7 64 and directx 9.0c - 01/29/13 11:14 PM

I just got a computer with win 7 64 bit. It came with direct x 11. Where do I get direct x 9.0c ? And how do I install it. I've never used win 7 before. So if you can tell me in layman's terms that would be terrific. Thanks in advance.

Cathy1, don't worry about the DX 9.0c. If you install a game that needs it, let the game install what it needs.

Read all the games I tested and played in the Windows 7 and Games thread stickied at the top of the Glitches forum. I never installed any DX version except when installing a game. Still haven't for that matter!

I just downloaded Critter Chronicles from GOG and when I start it I get an error that says The program can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I click on ok and then it comes up with OGRE EXCEPTION (7:Internal Error Exception): Could not load dynamic library.\Render System_Direct 3D9. System Error:The specified module could not be found in DynLib:: load at ..\..\..\..\ Ogre Main\scr\ogre DynLib.cpp(line 91)

Not sure what the issue issue is here. I downloaded and installed Critter Chronicles to my Windows 7 and it played perfectly with no errors. Do you get any error messages when installing the game or just when you try to play?

When I try to play is when I get the error.

EDIT..... I installed Direct X 9.0c and the game works fine now. At least I know I should be able to play my other games now. Fingers crossed.
