Book of Unwritten Tales No-colour 2d characters

I seem to have a curious problem with this game according to others on the Adventure Games Discussion forum.
The characters appear in 2 dimensional white or cream against perfectly normal 3d colour backgrounds.
I'm on XP. Can anyone explain or advise?

What video card do you have? You may be using video drivers that aren't completely compatible with the game, or it's possible that your video card doesn't meet the requirements.

Just for a reference... I played it with a Nvidia 7600GT video card and on a XP system.

It's an old video card, no longer supported, Radeon 9200 series.
Do you think this might be the problem?

The mimimum system requirments are:

* OS: Windows XP, Vista
* CPU: Intel 1.5 GHz
* RAM: 512 MB
* HDD: 2.5 GB free disk space
* Graphics: 128 MB Graphics Memory
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9.0c

It is, the game requires a DirectX 9.0c video card that provides PixelShader 2.0 support. Your card only supports PS 1.4.

Thank you folks. I'm going to do something about getting a better video card now. I've put off the evil day far too long because it means getting into the issue of power supply etc.
I probably need a new computer but have put this off because I've been hanging on to XP like grim death.

meryl, there's no reason you can't continue to hold on to your old XP computer like grim death AND get a new one that will play newer games! Have your cake and eat it too - I do! Remember, Microsoft will stop all support for XP in just a year too.

How urgent is my quest for a new computer?

The only 2 games I forsee wanting to play in the near future are Bracken Tor and The Last Crown. (Please let them happen in the near future!)

Would my old video card and ancient computer cope with these do you suppose? I know this is an unfair question but you will likely have an idea.

They might if the specs are no higher than for Barrow Hill and The Last Crown. But we don't know what those specs will be yet.
