sherlock holmes - testament - 02/27/13 07:13 AM

I started downloading this game only to have it come up halfway along saying corrupt file, unable to finish the download. What gives. I was downloading from the Adventure Shop using their downloader. Have tried twice now. I am using a samsung intel core i5, windows 7. Any help would be really appreciated. cheers, Alfoil.

I had an issue with their downloader recently too. Try manually downloading the files instead, avoiding the downloader program completely. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it how you like, and then manually download, directing all files into that folder. Then install as you usually would. luck

Hi Rushes, I am not so sure about their downloader now as I decided to put it on my big computer to see how it would go and used it again. Apart from the fact that it took from 6.30 at night until 11.30 the next day to download it, it went perfectly. I am having a problem with Big Fish downloads, have had quite a few that just won't open lately. Maybe windows 7 just doesn't like some programs!! I find that any game I put on my big computer which runs XP I don't have much trouble with. Most of my game issues are on my laptop which is Windows 7.

Try running a bandwidth test on the laptop and the XP computer. If your laptop is getting significantly less speed than your desktop, that would be why it's taking longer to download.
Don't run anything else that uses the Internet while the bandwidth test is running.

Here are a couple of bandwidth testing websites:

Other gaming issues could be caused by the graphics card in a laptop -- especially if it has Intel graphics.

Unfortunately we purchased this particular laptop for me to play games on and not much else. Had we known in advance we wouldn't have. My husband got the same one after I did and will probably have issues as well. What a pain. Will run the bandwitch test on both and see how I go. cheers, Alfoil.
