Would BoUT saved games be shown differently in Vista from that of XP? - 04/13/13 12:04 AM

Hi All,

I have a gal that wants my just after raindance saved game. Mine are shown in Windows Explorer as savegame31.ksg

She has found the saves on her Vista Computer and says her last one is KSG 24

Is Vista that different with the saved games for the same game?

Thank You,

Mr. Bill

I wouldn't think they'd have different names.
The saves at dlh have the same format as yours.

Could she be talking about how the saves are named inside the game?

I looked in all my files and I didn't find anything like that. The game I uploaded to the saved games database at Mystery Manor is called savegame33.ksg. Of course, the numbers will be different as they are dependent on when the save was created.

Thank you for the help.

I doubt that she named them that way within the game. If you saved a game with empty in the space or clicked on empty so that nothing was in the space would the game automatically give it a name like she describes? I'll have to try it.

About 2 months ago she said someone tried to download and insert the saved game for her. Apparently with no success. I asked he if she knew how to use Windows Explorer and she did not answer that question. Is Windows Explorer in Vista simililar to that of XP?

Are the saved games for BoUT in Vista at the same location as in XP?

Desktop\My Documents\Book of Unwritten Tales\savegames

That's what I was thinking.

Similar, yes. But it may look different enough to confuse her if you try to explain. You can see pictures online ***HERE***.

Maybe Drac can tell you. I don't have it installed in Vista, though I can check where they go in Win7x64.

EDIT:

By default they go in

C:\Users\username\Documents\Book of Unwritten Tales\savegames

where "username" is whatever your username happens to be.

That's in Windows 7 x64.
I'd assume Vista would be similar and the saves would be in the Book of Unwritten Tales folder in the user's Documents folder.

I just checked on my Windows 7 and that's where mine are too.

Well I did try the following:

The result was that the save would be called newgame. I saved with the word EMPTY left in place and another after clicking on EMPTY so that it disapeared (I typed nothing in its place). I ended up getting two saves that are named the same newgame.

Another Question: In Windows Explorer of Vista is the folder called My Documents as it in on my XP or whether it is called Documents without the My.

Thank you,

Bill

It's called Documents in Vista.
Folder structure is almost identical in Vista and Windows 7.

You're welcome, Mr. Bill.
There is a shortcut labeled "My Documents" that you may see in Windows 7, but it's not really a folder.
