myst the master piece

I am having problems with Myst
it downloaded just fine and installed but when I go to play it I get a blank screen and a hand icon at the top of it you can see the help and and the rest of the white bar and I can even exit moves well in the dark.
I have windows8 and my computer has all the specs to run it
any help would be really appreciated.

There are so many versions of Myst out there... which one is this? When you say you computer has all the specs, does it have a separate video card or is it using integrated graphics?

its the one from GOG and I think it said from 1998
It wasn't the 2014 edition. where do you get the 2014 edition?
anyhow I got the older version to work somehow.

Myst Masterpiece Edition.

Don't worry, dianne... I was confused too until someone explained the difference!

It's true, Draclvr. There HAS been some confusion about the difference between the various versions of Myst. I have the original boxed version of REALMYST, which has AWESOME graphics, and I'm torn between buying or NOT buying the STEAM version of REALMYST MASTERPIECE EDITION. Are the Graphics significantly BETTER than those in the original REALMYST? I woud hate to spend $18 for the NEW version, if there ISN'T that much of a difference between the two. I have played REALMYST SO many times that I think I can play the whole game without a WT. (Sorry, MAG. LOL)

I don't think anyone can tell you whether or not it's going to be worth the price for you. Your question about the graphics is probably best answered by going to YouTube and doing a search for

Realmyst Masterpiece

That way you get to see the game in motion, which shows off the "glow" and "weather effects" better.

You might also want to wait and see if they come out with a demo, so you can see how well it plays on your computer.

on my computer.That's why I am putting off purchasing it.

Just thought I'd let you all know that the Apple Store is showing an updated version of RealMyst Masterpiece Edition. Apparently they have fixed the bugs in the first release.
