Problem with Scratches

I am having the same problem that was reported some time ago on the Windows 7 thread. I tried the edit as posted below but I still cannot play the game. I still get the "blue" screen. When I get to the part to change the rate from 0 to 60, and I try to save, it says "Access Denied." Is there a workaround for this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

"Scratches installed, but trying to play the game caused a BSOD and a memory dump. Upsydaisy reported the same result on her newly installed Windows 7. I tried playing both from a full installation and playing from the disk - same result.

EDIT for Scratches. Inland and I found a work-around posted by the game developer. You must edit the Scream.CFG file. To accomplish this in Windows 7, go to C:/Program Files/Nucleosys/Scratches. Find the Scream.CFG file and right click. Select Properties and from within that window, change the Open With option to either Notepad or Word Pad. Change the Rate from 0 to 60. Save the file, exit and restart the game."

Program files is protected in Windows 7 and above. You will need to open notepad elevated in order to save the changes.

Click the Start orb, type "notepad" and when it appears in the list, right click it and select "Run as Administrator" - from that point just click "File, Open" and peruse to the .CFG file.
