H.V. Frequency over range

Hello,

This is a problem I have had recently with games downloaded from
Steam and GOG.com.

When I try to launch the game, I get a black screen
with a blue box stating: H.V. frequency over range.

How can I solve this problem?

Have had the same problem with some games. Think its something to do with the resolution (mine is 1920x1800), try a low resolution e.g.600x800 first and see if your game launches. Then go up to a resolution that your monitor can handle. Hope this helps

It's a problem with your monitor not being able to supply the frequency
your video card is asking for (at least not at the resolution it's set to).

H. is horizontal
V. is vertical

And since you're only seeing the problem with games, you might try going into the "Games Video Interface" as described here

(I don't remember seeing a frequency option in a Game interface, but maybe it's there in some games. However many games allow you to change in-game resolution, so you can try that.)

It may help to install drivers for your monitor, if there are any.
It may be your monitor can support higher resolutions and frequencies
than the "auto-detect" Plug 'n Play drivers indicate.

If you haven't already, try installing a monitor driver (not video driver) assuming there is one for your monitor. Most OEM's do provide them, check their Web Site's support page.

Its possible the game is unable to detect the supported resolutions.
