how to get my hard drive space back

my window c has a red line under it, and it says free space 17.1, GB of 914 GB.

Go to the c-drive and right click/properties. If that says the same thing,then you are almost out of room on your c-dive. You can either start deleting things you don't need or use,or get an external hard drive and start transferring things to that. I know that you play a lot of games and I have a feeling you are not uninstalling them when you are done.

And be sure to uninstall, not delete. Run CCleaner and I'll bet you free up a few more GB of space.

"Computer memory" generally refers to RAM, not hard drive space.

I agree with Geo about getting an external hard drive for storage if you want to keep your files.

Another thing you can do is delete old restore points if you don't need them, as well as temporary files, which can be done through Windows Cleanup, CCleaner, or other maintenance utilities. However this alone is unlikely to get you back as much hard drive space as you need. You'll probably have to either delete files or move them to an external hard drive for storage.

There are some virus that will fill up your hard drive with garbage. So if you haven't been saving a lot of large files, you might look into that possibility. 914GB would be hard to fill up unless you're saving a lot of large files -- like movie files.

You should also error-check and defrag the drive. Both utilities will be found under right-click/properties/tools.
