Program wont run

Hello,
When I started my computer today my downloader wouldn't run.I tried "run as administrator",no go.I downloaded the latest version of the program,no go. The only thing that happened yesterday was AVG ran an update. There were no hints that it was now blocking the program or something else. I ran a shell virus check,no go. I ran a full scan with nothing found. Sort of a mystery to me. Any ideas?
I have Win-7. I also ran Malwarebytes,no go.

What do you mean by "downloader?"
Are you talking about the download capability built into your web browser?
Or a program like GOG's downloader?
Or a download accelerator like this one -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download_Accelerator_Plus
If it's a separate program, does it have a name?

Its mipony from www.mipony.net. I use it because it is easy and super fast. It has always worked great and then today I clicked on it and it wont start. I guess what I am asking is what would cause a program that was working great for several years to suddenly stop working?

Make sure mipony is in your AVG's "Exceptions" list.

They also suggest allowing the program through AVG's firewall.

I was checking it out and it appears to be a download manager. I didn't get any warnings about it, so I assume it's safe.

That link seems to fix the problem. Something must have changed during the AVG update yesterday.

Makes me curious why AVG is blocking it. There must be something it doesn't like.

Well, mipony downloads files from the Internet.
One of those files might possibly contain a virus.
Any program that connects to the Internet is suspect to an antivirus, whether you initiate the download or not.
AVG is probably just being overprotective -- using "heuristic" protection that blocks everything that downloads files from the Internet unless you instruct it to do otherwise.

Unless you have some other reason to suspect mipony, I wouldn't take AVG's word for it that there's anything wrong with it. AVG is probably only blocking mipony because it doesn't know about it. You might write to the AVG people and let them know AVG is blocking mipony and you believe it to be a legitimate program.

Well like I said I have been using Mipony for a long time and AVG never had a problem before,so it must have been something new in the update.
