New question about RoonSehv

New question about RoonSehv - 09/04/15 12:27 AM

blush I am continuing my inept and frustratingly unsuccessful attempt to copy the game RoonShev to a disc so that I can add it to my personal MYST collection. Although the game downloaded and played easily on my Windows 7, 64 bit Gateway computer, I could never copy the game to a disk. I had someone else copy it to a disk I purchased and when I went to load it the disk seemed to contain but one program (868.153GB) titled “RoonSehv_v2_FR-ENG-GER-ITA_setup.” When I tried to open it from the disk I got a flag which said ”Choose the program you want to use to open this file” followed by a laundry of list on all the programs in my computer.

The disk I have is a DVD-R 4.7 GB. So I know it’s big enough. Have I used the wrong type of disk? Is there something missing? Should I go to Tibet and become a monk? Suggestions?

I got bitten by that bug myself. frown
It seems that when you download the game from the site, you don't always get the same server. At least one of the servers has the correct file name and at least one other the wrong name.

The name of the file should be
RoonSehv_v2_FR-ENG-GER-ITA_setup.exe
not
RoonSehv_v2_FR-ENG-GER-ITA_setup

So, just rename the file to .exe and it will then execute when clicked upon.

That's a brilliantly simple idea, but how do I do it? When I right click on the program on the disk I don't get a "rename" option. (Note that it does NOT have "exe" in the name.)

You can't rename a file when it's on a DVD.
Copy it to your hard drive first, then rename it.

You may have to right-click it, choose Properties, and remove the read-only attribute before you can rename it.

Robert Gault and Jenny100; thank you. I coppied the file and added the "exe" and the game loaded as it was supposed to. As a final and completely unimportant question; Why does the "Steam" logo appear in the lower right hand corner whenever I start the the game. It does this from my disk and did it from the original download. It doesn't seem to affect anything, so this is simply a curiosity question. Thanks again.

Other Gameboomers have reported this in the ***RoonSehv thread over in Discussions***, but no one really answered the question.

Perhaps it has something to do with the game engine that was used -- that UE3 (Unreal Engine 3) has integrated Steamworks capability. Check the link below.
