Just to provide more information for the Glitches folks, deleterman wishes to download a saved game from here. The discussion over in Hints was getting technical, and I was also confused by his mention of Starforce copy protection, so I suggested that he post his questions in the Glitches forum.

What does the message say, deleterman? I just downloaded one of the saves with no problem.

Never attempt to open a save by double-clicking it. You have zero chance of the game opening and loading the save. Your computer will attempt to open the save with whatever the extension of the file is linked to, which usually has nothing whatever to do with the contents of the save or the game it's for.

You need to put the save in the game's save folder, start the game, and load the save from there. If you don't see the save, it may not be compatible with your operating system.

You aren't making sense. First you say you tried to open the save by double-clicking it. Then you say you haven't even managed to download it yet. Download means get it off the Internet. If you have it on your desktop or in your Downloads folder and double-clicked it, you've already downloaded it. The saves on the nicouzouf website are zip files, so I don't see how you'd get any message at all by double-clicking a link in your web browser.

If you need to copy the save to your save folder,
first find out where the game's saves are.

Despite that certain websites claim the Nostradamus saves are in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Nostradamus\Users\Profile1\

that doesn't look like a Vista/7/8/10 location to me. It looks like an XP location, and I'd look elsewhere if you don't see anything the Program Files location.

Save folders are most likely in one of the subfolders of
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Local\
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\LocalLow\
or
C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\

Occasionally I've seen save folders in
C:\Users\your-username\Saved Games

The subfolder can be named after the game, but more often is inside another subfolder that's named after the publisher or developer.

You should drag the save to the game's save folder, then start the game and load the game from the game's Load Game Menu.

Can I assume you unzipped the file too, deleterman? The file I downloaded was a zipped file.

png is a picture file -- like a jpg or bmp.
It sounds like you downloaded the little picture of the floppy on the nicouzouf website instead of the saved game.

The name of the save you download should be
nostradamusthelastprophecy_savegames_part_020.zip

and it should unzip to
Save.020
readme.txt

If you can't figure out how to download a zipped save from nicouzouf, you won't be able to use any saves from that website for any game -- not just this particular game. So you're better off either solving the download issue or giving up on using saved games.

We could try emailing you the save as an attachment, but there's no proof your email provider wouldn't strip off of attachment or entirely block the email. It's better if you can download the save directly yourself.

I have no idea what web browser you're using or why it downloaded the png of the save icon instead of the zip file.

When I left-click the save icon for
"20: Waiting for my key at the blacksmith"
in my web browser, a pop-up window appears with the option to "Open with" or "Save file" with "Save File" selected -- and I can either OK or Cancel that Window.

Double-clicking the save icon simply opens two separate download windows for the same file. I would have to right-click the icon and choose "Save Image As" to download the picture of the save icon -- which is not what you said you did. Maybe your web browser is having issues. I don't know why else it would act so strangely.

Right-clicking the save icon and choosing "Save Link As" will open a pop-up window pointing to the zip file, so is an alternative to a left-click -- at least with my web browser.

You don't need Winzip or 7zip or any other external utility to unzip a .zip file.
Windows has had that capability built into it ever since XP.

Re: nostradamus : the last prophecy - 10/19/17 11:11 PM

If you're not enjoying the game, that's reason enough not to continue playing, save or no save.

I agree it's more difficult to download files than it used to be -- at least it is with Windows. Sending files by email can be even worse, where someone's email to you can be deleted by your ISP or antivirus because of a benign attachment, without your ever knowing the person sent you anything. They assume every attachment is a virus.

thanks -i use webroot secure any where.

Re: nostradamus : the last prophecy - 10/20/17 03:35 AM

Webroot could also be causing problems with your download too. I just downloaded a save game file, right clicked it and selected Extract All to unzip it. That's using the build-in utility in Windows. You have it in Windows 7 too.

thanks I did not know that ,where is that on my computer ? headscratch

Re: nostradamus : the last prophecy - 10/20/17 03:06 PM

If you have the zipped file downloaded, just locate it and right click on it. One of the options in the drop down menu should be extract all. Just click on that. Then follow Jenny's instructions to move the saved game into your game files.

If you're looking for the AppData folder,
Microsoft hides it, so you have to unhide it to see it.
