Riven maglev bug ?

Purchased and downloaded from GOG eons ago. Finally back to visit the islands.

I'm at Ghen's laboratory and cannot get the tram to come there and take me to Plateau Island.

Any help is appreciated to progress in the game.

I went back to the Jungle/villagers' Island --- and the tram is sitting there.
Tried to turn it around-- but then you cannot exit it. So it has to be facing the way you arrive.
I've clicked on the blue button inside Ghen's lab-- but go out to see if the tram arrived.... and nope. :(

The tram car finally showed up.

Now when I input the correct number code... the yellow dome and the book for Ghen's prison age opens ; but the picture is black and cannot access the island prison.
I really want to trap him !

Maybe I'm expecting too much from an old game ??

I think it's a Hints problem rather than a bug.
But with QuickTime, who knows?

But I'm thinking that without the correct number code-- Ghen's Prison Age book shouldn't be able to be accessed at all.
It works until the Age book opens, but the panel (moving 'video' of the age) where you put your 'hand' icon--is blacked out ... and so there's no further options.

Maybe it's possible that GOG sells a game, which has been converted for an updated pc, has a glitch in the spot where a cd change would occur.
I still might play the game a little and see what happens.
Or try to uninstall and reinstall.

Didn't have the books powered up....
*sigh*

It's been too long since I've played these games.
But they still are so much fun !!

Glad you figured out what the problem was -- and that it wasn't with the GOG version.
