DVD / CD-RW does not recognize any disc inserted

i put the second agatha christie in and it plays but will not recognized it, please help. it is a window 8 desktop.

By "the second Agatha Christie" do you mean CD 2 (the second CD) of one of the Agatha Christie games not being recognized after a disc swap?

Or are you talking about any CD from Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express" (which was the 2nd Agatha Christie game made by AWE games) not being recognized?

Or are you talking about a casual game series?

Also, are other CD's reading properly?

If there is a problem with more than this one CD, check ***this thread*** at Microsoft forums for a fix.

If this is the only CD that gives a problem, then it's a problem with the CD, and might be related to the DRM that was used.

i will try another cd and yes that is one Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express, this is the only one, and it is a cd-rom.

The first thing to try is rebooting the computer to see if the CD drive detects the CD after the reboot.

If other game CD's are working, and detecting a CD change, it sounds like there may be an issue with the Agatha Christie CD.

But there is also a Windows problem where Windows suddenly refuses to detect CD changes. It's not related to a particular CD. There's a thread at

where the person found that putting a different type of CD in the drive (like a music CD) would force Windows to recognize that there was a CD change, and after that he could put the CD he wanted to read in the drive.

The F5 key is supposed to refresh the contents of Windows Explorer, but if you're having the problem in the middle of a game install, using F5 may not work.
