I have played this game before and I decided to play it again
This time I played in windows 7 but within the game I tried to exit
pressed the esc key but that did not work can anyone tell me how
to exit. the game is suppose to be played on windows 95,98,me maby
That the reason I can't exit.
All help appreaciated.

Hi Bluto, I have moved your post over to Glitches because I am guessing this is a technical problem. If this turns out not to be the case, we can move your post back over to Hints.

If your problem cannot be resolved, I would then recommend that you buy the game from GOG, where the game has been tweaked to run on newer systems without issue, and you can find the GOG purchase page here.

But I am getting ahead of myself - let's wait and see what the techies have to say.

The ESC key is supposed to bring up the main menu. I did some searching and I can't find anything about this being a problem. Have you been able to save a game in the main menu?

If this is the original version of the game, the Escape key should bring you to the main menu.

If playing the original CD version on Windows 7 you might have to use some tweaks similar to those that work with Atlantis 2:

Right-click the game shortcut (or the game exe in the game folder) and choose Properties.
Select the Compatibility tab.
Put checks in the boxes for:

Disable visual themes
Disable desktop composition
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Run this program as an Administrator

Save changes and exit.

See if the game behaves.

Unless the game refuses to behave, don't change the Windows version compatibility.

If this is a download version of Amerzone, it might be one of the Microids/Anuman expurgated versions made for mobile and then ported back to PC -- missing nodes, hotspots, and puzzles, and replacing the original interface with a new one that was designed for mobile. I think the GOG version is still the complete version, but beware of buying a download from other shops.

Thanks to both of you, and I did find an old thread on GameBoomers where someone else was having trouble exiting the game on a newer system - that's what put the idea into my mind.

Itself. I probably was trying to exit the wrong way.
