myst V end of ages

I would appreciate help for m yst v, I first played this game from disc and want to play it again. when I use the disc on my 10, it downloads as far as I can see, but, will only play the the intro, I get a message saying theres an embedded programme that I have to delete.I have not played this game on this computor at all. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer and don't know how. my main question, is, if I download from steam, which has the game playable on xp or 7, will I get the same problem or has it been removed so I can buy and play. I have not had any problems with any other games,just this one.any help would be appreciated. happy new year.

The DRM on the game disc might be preventing the game from playing.
The download version wouldn't have that type of DRM.

I don't know why the Steam site says the game is for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
while the GOG site says it's for Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10)

I'm guessing Steam just doesn't want to officially "support" it on Windows 10, because if you check the forums there are people playing both the GOG and the Steam versions on Windows 10.

My original version on CD was very sensitive to my Win XP nVidia video card driver. This may or may not be relevant to a Win10 system.
