Return to Mysterious Island 2 - 03/31/18 04:50 AM

I am having a problem with the dialog I dont hear her talk or Jeps sounds I also dont see the written dialog. Without it the game does not move forward. is there a fix for this do I have to start over from the beginning by deleting this copy and installing again. There is an oval white space over Jeps head with my greyed out head when he is supposed to act.. Thanks for any help given.

Hi WhiteRose,
Probably a "glitch" in YOUR game. I had no problem at all with the audio when I last played it, and my game was the original boxed version.

Is this the original disc version of the game?
If it's a download, where did you download it from?
Also, are you running on Windows 10?
Are you using antivirus that might be interfering with the game?
Have you tried any compatibility modes? (right-click game shortcut --> Properties --> Compatibility tab)

Steam has a forum for the game, but I don't see anything about missing sound in the thread titles. Did you get the game from Steam?

I am using windws 10 there is no year on the cover or disc. I downloaded from a disc it is an oringinal one. there was dialog in the first part of the game however after she told jep to get her a bandage it stopped She did not bandage her leg that may be the problem the walkthrough does not say anything about that it just says to send je[ for a bandage and he wants a hug after that the dialog stops. i did not think about the antivirus. but if i was roking in the first part of the game I dont think that interferred. Wouldi it interfer after the game has started working? I dont understand why the dialog just stopped. Thank you for any help given.

I haven't had any luck finding information on getting this game working on Windows 10. In fact, none of the download sites I checked that sell this game (Fireflower, Steam, Amazon, Big Fish) claim it works on anything later than Windows 8 (and Amazon only claims up to Windows 7). Now it might work on some peoples' computers but not on most, or parts of the game might work but it might not be finishable, but none of those sites support the game on Windows 10.
It's also not on Gameboomers' "Windows 10 and Games" list.

It might. By default an antivirus will scan everything your computer is doing and block things it thinks are suspicious, including games, or things games do during play. You could try adding the game exe to your antivirus' exceptions list to see if that helps.

If you have a save from before the game messed up, go back to that one. Otherwise you'll have to replay from the start. If Mina didn't bandage her leg when she should have, something didn't trigger properly, so you have to go back to before that happened.

Another thing to try is to start the game by right-clicking the game shortcut and choosing "Run As Administrator."

Hi,
There is a Patch out there for your game, but will it fix your problem, might be worth a try.

To Sanford: Did you have to do anything special to get the game working on your Win10 machine?

The most important piece of news about Return to Mysterious Island 2 that you probably haven't seen as yet is this, Starcom: fix for screen flickering in Kheops games

Re: Return to Mysterious Island 2 - 04/01/18 05:25 AM

Hi Starcom,
To tell you the truth, I don't think I had any problems at all with this game but I might have played it on my WIN XP PC at the time but can't be sure. I now have Win 10 64 bit.

Re: Return to Mysterious Island 2 - 04/02/18 01:49 AM

Hi Sanford,
If you still have the game, can you give it a shot with your Windows 10 and if it dosen't work then maybe you can try the link Marian supplied to see if that makes it work. Only if you have the time, I know you have a Very Busy schedule playing off the Huge collection of Adv. games you possess.

Take care

Great, Sandy. All the Kheops games with the flickering problem should be fixed with that patch.

It might be worth trying the patch for flickering even though the description doesn't mention sound problems or parts of the game being greyed out. The patch provides alternative DirectX files, and your problem might be related to the version of DirectX that comes with Windows 10.

More about the patch here
http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1141189/Fix_for_flickering_in_Kheops_g

You don't replace Windows 10's DirectX files. You just extract the files from the patch into the game's folder.

Re: Return to Mysterious Island 2 - 05/05/18 02:11 AM

Hi again Jenny and Starcom,
I was mistaken in saying I have the DISC version of RTMI2. I actually have the downloaded version which is running perfectly. Sorry
